What is the opportunity?

This position offers an exciting opportunity with the QTS Data and Architecture Strategy team, to drive strategic objectives for RBC Capital Markets by shaping and strengthening IT data controls.

The Associate Director, Data Governance and Automation will lead the review and strategy for IT data controls for key projects, testing and execution across CM QTS applications, ensuring alignment with Capital Markets and Enterprise initiatives. This role will also lead the automation of controls documentation and provide the leadership a clear view of gaps in our QTS applications environment. This is an opportunity for a lead with existing experience in data management. The role involves working with senior leaders across Capital Markets

What will you do?

  • Lead IT controls assessment, identify gaps and propose remedial strategies to strengthen controls across QTS applications in alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices

  • Lead and manage a team of Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) with a focus on proactively improving controls environment and delivery across various strategic and regulatory initiatives; foster growth and a culture of continuous improvement

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure adherence to data governance policies and find opportunities to drive automation and process optimization in line with our strategic goals for IT controls

  • Work alongside Business/Technology Owners and Data Stewards to ensure that the initiatives successfully deliver against desired business outcomes and enable value creation

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with senior business and technology leaders across CM and Enterprise to ensure alignment and success of our initiatives

  • Fast-paced work environment resulting from stringent deadlines during peak periods

  • Working hours flexibility required to enable collaboration with global teams in North America, EMEA and APAC.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline along with 10+ years of related experience leading in execution, delivery

  • 3+ years with leading banks and organizations on data governance, controls framework and strong awareness of tech architecture

  • Knowledge of Capital Markets end to end trade flow process, Operations, Finance & Risk

  • Demonstrated ability to face off to Director and Managing Director level senior management across IT and business

  • Ability to learn & adapt in a dynamic environment

Nice To Have:

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities; Strong structured, analytical, and methodological thinking

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Automation expertise for documentation work as well as testing; Gen AI usage for documentation automation

  • Collaborative and organized; demonstrated ability to multi-task across competing priorities

  • Proficiency with Tableau, MS Office (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) & Visio
