Senior BI Engineer
NBCUniversal Media, LLC seeks Senior BI Engineer in Playa Vista, CA

Full-time

  • Drive and participate in the definition, the direction, and the development of the BI Reporting Platform.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to create the requirements and technical design of the BI Reporting Platform and related intelligence tools.
  • Work with business owners, analysts, product managers, and data engineers to implement visual, actionable reports that meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, update and support reports and their underlying datasets based on feedback and business changes.
  • Continuous improvements and optimization of existing BI Dashboards and Advanced SQL queries powering the datasets.
  • Drive and contribute to every phase of the report development life cycle (design, development, testing, iteration, deployment).
  • Recognize and implement best practices in reporting: data integrity, test design, analysis, automated validations, and documentation.
  • Educate and train business owners on BI intelligence tools and reports.
  • Support internal stakeholders with ad-hoc requests and reports.
  • Develop and drive the adoption of self-service BI tools and solutions.
  • Find opportunities to innovate and lead the way.


Hybrid work schedule (minimum 3 days in office).
 

Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field (or foreign degree equivalent).

The position requires five (5) years of experience in the job offered, in a Business Intelligence role focused on data warehousing and business intelligence tools, techniques, and technologies, or in a related occupation.

The position requires each of the following skills, which must have been gained through five (5) years of experience:

 

  1. Developing Visualization reports, charts, dashboards at enterprise scale using one of market leading BI reporting technology – Tableau or Looker;
  2. Data warehousing concepts;
  3. Developing and delivering high quality, testable, production ready reports.

 

The position requires each of the following skills, which must have been gained through four (4) years of experience:

  1. Writing Advanced SQL and Python scripts;
  2. Any public cloud platform such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) at enterprise scale.

The position requires each of the following skills, which must have been gained through three (3) years of experience:

  1. Working on enterprise scale Relational, Multi-dimensional & multi-threaded Datawarehouse Systems such as Redshift and Snowflake;
  2. Designing ETL jobs using tools like Talend to bring in new datasets as well as transform existing data sources to efficiently power Viz Dashboards;
  3. Data mining and developing SQL-based and Python based ETL processes for large-scale, complex datasets;
  4. Working on distributed, scalable, service-oriented platforms;
  5. Understanding of the agile software development life cycle and CI/CD framework using GIT Repo & Jenkins.

The position requires each of the following skills, which must have been gained through two (2) years of experience:

  1. Designing data models for existing and new pipelines;
  2. Distributed data architectures and their eco-systems, namely Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Spark, EMR, etc.

Salary range: $140,358 - $153,830.50 per year
Full-time: 40 hours/week
