About the Data & Analytics department
You will be a part of the Vattenfall BtC Data & Analytics department, which develops data driven solutions for our customers and customer processes. The department is spread out in three business domain teams; where data experts and business collaborate closely to realize valuable data science solutions. Each Data & Analytics domain team consists of an Analytics Translator, Analytics Engineers and Data Scientists, and is supported by Data- & ML Engineers from IT.
The data science solutions the Data & Analytics team creates have a strong impact on Vattenfall Business to Consumer (BtC) ambitions regarding both purpose and profitability. This is also reflected in our Data Strategy mission “A sustainable step ahead through data”!
The Data Science Lead acts as the lead to the Data Science Authority; a collaboration of the data scientists and machine learning engineers of the three different business domains. The goal of the Data Science Authority is to facilitate a joint development of ways of working and best practices.
Your role
As the Lead Data Scientist you will help bring the quality of our data science solutions to the next level. You will lead the Data Science authority, part of the Data & Analytics team, which is responsible for the development of data driven solutions for marketing & sales, customer journeys, service and digitization, proposition development and sustainability advice to our customers.
As the lead data scientist, you will be responsible for:
- Steering 6 data scientists and 3 machine learning engineers across various business domains, ensuring that they deliver high-quality data-driven solutions
- Overseeing and facilitating the professional development of team members
- Developing and implementing data science strategies that align with business objectives
- Translating the vision of the Data Science Authority into a roadmap of initiatives that will increase the team's data science maturity level and overseeing its implementation
- Encouraging knowledge sharing among the team members and promoting a collaborative work environment
- Being the primary point of contact for both the team and other stakeholders within the company for overarching topics
- Acting as the liaison for external parties
- Staying up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data science and machine learning and actively introducing them to the team

Your profile
You are an individual with strong leadership and communication skills, as you will be the first point of contact for internal stakeholders. With your curiosity and willingness to take on challenges you are able to take on complex (technical) problems. Being as assertive as you are you challenge others to be the best they can be and strive for excellence.
Furthermore you meet the following qualifications:
- An academic degree with a strong quantitative component (Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Econometrics, or similar)
- At least 5+ years of professional experience in a data scientist role
- Previous experience in leading projects or a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; in Dutch and English
- Proficiency in Python (Object-oriented programming) and strong technical skills
- Extensive knowledge of machine learning techniques and know how to apply them
- Interest and/or experience in deploying models with MLOps and software engineering best practices
- Strong presentation and communication skills with ability to communicate complex analytical or technical concepts to audiences with limited analytical or technical background

Our offer
The height of your salary is based on your education and relevant work experience. The salary for this position ranges from €5.300,- to €6.600,- excluding holiday payments and based on a fulltime workweek of 38 hours. In addition to your salary, we offer a comprehensive secondary benefits package, the most important components of which are:
- End of year bonus of 4.5% of your annual salary and a profit sharing of up to 3.5% of your annual salary based on the results of Vattenfall Netherlands.
- NS Business card for commuting or a travel allowance of €0.23 per km up to a maximum of 50 km one way.
- 8% holiday allowance.
- 25 vacation days, 2.5 vitality days, and when you have 38-hour contract you'll work 40 hours, so you build up 13 ADV (reduction of working hours) days.
- Choice budget, which allows you to purchase or sell extra vacation days, buy a e-bicycle, or simply receive it as addition pay.
- Education budget, because we believe it is important that you can continue to develop yourself.
