The Position

Roche Diagnostics International Ltd in Rotkreuz is one of the world’s leading providers of diagnostic system solutions for clinics, laboratories and doctors’ offices. The company employs over 2200 people in Rotkreuz and is one of Roche Diagnostics main sites.

The Process Development team within Blood Gas & Electrolyte (BG&E) Engineering is supporting the manufacturing processes and the quality control of BG&E Sensors and Reagents used in blood gas systems. We are responsible for developing process improvements which lead to better product quality or reduced costs.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated Intern for our team. In this role, you will mainly support a transfer and capacity extension project for sensor manufacturing. The project involves defining manufacturing processes through experiments on production equipment. As an Intern, you will directly contribute to the process development, process transfer and method evaluation of in-process controls. Therefore, you will get the opportunity to have a direct impact on process and product improvements.

Your main tasks would include:

  • Analyze process data (tabular), 3D, and imaging data using classical and machine learning methods

  • Develop proof-of-concept models, particularly for computer vision tasks using imaging data

  • Perform exploratory data analysis across diverse data types (images, 3D data, tabular process data)

  • Present results, insights, and recommendations to the project team

  • Contribute ideas for process optimization and technical improvements

Who You Are:

  • You have a Bachelor or a Master degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Production and Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related fields (or a technical apprenticeship with a Bachelor degree ongoing)

  • Good programming skills in Python 

  • Statistical data analysis skills

  • First hands-on experience with machine learning – ideally in computer vision or image-based applications

  • Fluent in both, German and English (spoken and written)

Start date: September 2025 

Workload: 80-100%

Duration: 6 -12 months
