We're seeking a Data Analyst with advanced SQL skills, and experience in analytics engineering to join Google DeepMind’s internal People, Culture and Org Domain group on a fixed-term contract. You will leverage your strong SQL and data analysis skills to provide clarity and structure to complex business problems, while ensuring high-quality analytics code. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to produce critical insights that directly guide strategic decisions around our people and culture strategy, contributing to Google DeepMind’s mission.
You’ll join the Core Analytics Team (CAT) within the Tech Ops & Analytics group at Google DeepMind. We’re a team of data engineers, data scientists, and analysts aiming to drive better organisational decisions – blending our technical skillset with rich stakeholder relationships to deliver impact. The outcomes of our work, ranging across topics like (but not limited to!) enabling data-informed decisions to reach DE&I goals, providing performance insights, recruitment optimisation, directly influence Google DeepMind’s progress towards our mission.About Us

The Role
We’re looking for someone who is skilled at and motivated by helping make sound decisions using quantitative data. This role will specialise in the area of People and Culture exploring areas like the attrition, DE&I, employee engagement surveys and similar.
Responsibilities will include conducting rigorous analyses, developing tools for monitoring key metrics, applying statistical techniques, communicating findings to diverse stakeholders, managing multiple projects, collaborating effectively with team members, and recommending improvements to data quality.
You’ll also be expected to contribute to our team environment – sharing your knowledge, coaching other analysts, helping articulate and prioritise our common roadmap, and using your experience of analytics in other organisations to make improvements to how we operate.
Key responsibilities:

Cultivate and champion data-driven culture using people and culture related analytics

Build strong relationships through advising, supporting and confidently challenging stakeholders and peers to identify relevant high-level questions and propose relevant data-focused analyses

Conduct rigorous, verifiable analysis (SQL) to answer those questions

Develop tools (dashboards, reports) to enable continuous monitoring of key metrics and enable user self-service

Apply statistical techniques to analyse large and complex datasets aiming to extract actionable recommendations

Communicate via presentations and written reports to a wide variety of stakeholders (with varying levels of seniority, technical and domain familiarity) – following through to ensure impact

Manage several projects simultaneously, exhibiting good project and time management skills (timelines, expectations, progress, etc.)

Collaborate effectively as part of a team of other data analysts, engineers and project managers

Submit tested code into source control for review

Coach and mentor others in their own use of analytical tools and techniques
About You
We're seeking a skilled and experienced Data Analyst to join our People, Culture & Org team on a fixed-term contract. You will leverage your analytical expertise to provide key insights that drive strategic decisions around our people and culture. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.

SQL Proficiency: You possess strong SQL skills and are comfortable extracting, manipulating, and analyzing data to solve complex business problems.

Data Storytelling & Reporting: You have a proven track record of delivering high-quality, accurate data reports within tight deadlines, translating complex data into compelling stories, and communicating these insights effectively to diverse stakeholders using a variety of formats (e.g., reports, presentations, dashboards).

Stakeholder Management: You are adept at building strong relationships and effectively collaborating with diverse stakeholders to understand their needs and present findings clearly.

HR Data and Insights: You have significant experience working with HR data and a demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable business insights related to people and culture organisational decisions.
