Position Overview
The Data Analyst at Urban Science manages data used in products and services that Urban Science sells to its customers. That data comes from diverse sources, clients, venders and technologies, and requires considerable processing and integration to deliver the insights that are beneficial to our customers. The Data Analyst has a high level of responsibility to ensure the data integration and processing results in a quality level that meets the needs of the business functions.
Workplace flexibility has taken on a whole new meaning here at Urban Science. The requirements of each team, role and employee can look quite different. Leaders work with their teams to determine the right balance for working in-person and remotely, considering the needs of the business, our clients, cross-functional projects, individual work, and individual preference. This role is a hybrid role, with a requirement of 1 day per week in the Mexico office, with additional days as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage Urban Science client databases, extract and manipulate data utilizing Urban Science proprietary software and commercial tooling
- Interface with other technology and business teams to integrate data from a variety of sources (client teams, DBAs, consuming application teams and the analytics department)
- Help to document work instructions to interface with central GDS data systems
- Execute ongoing and ad hoc processing of data
- Apply data analysis methods and tools to enhance data cleansing and readiness for use
- Create and generate data reports and deliverables for clients
- Assist in data processing reporting and BI tooling for operational management of data systems
- Tier 2 and general system support functions
- Manage access control into data processing systems
- Ensure data confidentiality and regulatory compliance
- Proactively communicate with upper management to provide updates and report issues in a timely manner

- Knowledge of relational database fundamentals, including creating and executing SQL queries, creating scripts, importing/exporting data, and manipulating data
- Familiarity with typical data integration patterns
- Experience with BI tools, such as PowerBI and Tableau

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited U.S. college or university, equivalent foreign institution is preferred. Non-technical degrees may be considered if candidate possesses appropriate level of analytical and technical knowledge and experience required for the role
- 3+ years related work experience required
- 1+ years with scripting and/or compiled languages
- GIS experience a plus: geoprocessing, spatial analysis and mapping
