As the Clerk Data Analysis Release of Information (ROI), you will be responsible for performing various duties concerning the release of medical information to healthcare facilities, physicians, attorneys, third party payers, insurance companies, government officials and others. You will answer all subpoenas and court orders, make court appearances as required, and maintain information related to everything mentioned previously in the electronic medical records system (ChartMaxx).
A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM—4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Release information for continuity of care, medical-legal purposes and for review in accordance with federal, state and local laws, ensuring confidentiality.
Prepare copies of medical records for release including but not limited to health care facilities, physicians, attorneys, third party payors and insurance companies.
Utilize various computer programs to retrieve, print, send, maintain and track the release of confidential health information (HIS, Intranet, ChartMaxx, etc.).
Act as receptionist for the Health Information Department, assisting, handling, and directing inquiries in response to requests.
Verify, complete, certify and deliver court documents in response to subpoenas and court orders.
Receive, process and respond to all patient requests for amendments of their medical records.
Send invoices, receive processes, post payments and make deposits of all cash and checks received in ROI as related to copy fees for records.
Assist patients, physicians, ancillary personnel and other departments with questions and concerns about release of confidential information.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge of Windows, EPIC, Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems (e.g. ChartMaxx)
Knowledge of basic medical terminology
One year of experience in a hospital medical records department
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Associate’s Degree in Business
Customer service experience
