Position Specific Description

NextEra Analytics is currently seeking a qualified candidate to join our Asset Performance team as an Associate Operations Engineer. The Operations Engineer will focus on the analysis and reporting of plant production data from across our renewable fleet. Specifically, this role involves applying advanced scientific methods and tools to analyze the power performance of our wind, solar, and storage facilities.
 
The successful candidate will achieve results by effectively applying analytical methodologies, understanding results and their impact on the business, developing recommendations based on analytics, and articulating results to other business units. This position frequently provides reports to management and often collaborates with other business units to provide advanced analytics.
 

  • Conduct assessments of operating wind, solar, and energy storage generating assets.
  • Perform diagnostic reviews of plant performance and collaborate with other business units on root cause analysis.
  • Assist in the development of techniques or processes to mitigate production variances or predictions.
  • Assist in longer-lived product enhancement through code and feature testing.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
     
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Atmospheric Science, Energy, or a related field.
  • Some experience in a combination of the following areas is preferred : wind/solar energy, battery storage, or a related utility field.
  • Proficient to above-average abilities with statistical analysis packages (R, Python, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization, both written and oral.
  • Ability to meet office attendance requirements and storm duty assignments (if located in FL).
  • Ability to infrequently work extended hours when necessary to meet critical deadlines.

Job Overview

Employees in this role oversee the analysis and reporting of renewable plant operations. Individuals provide renewable plant operational assessments for the entire fleet including applying advanced scientific methodologies to production data. This position applies analytical solutions and effectively articulates results to other business units and to executive management through risk vetting and operational committees.                                    

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform Operational assessments and diagnostic reviews of plant performance
  • Create ad-hoc coding analysis when required and contribute to operational code as necessary for improvements 
  • Review and perform analytics on assigned wind/solar sites assigned on a continuous basis                                        
  • Help support analytical questions regarding performance with external customers as requests come through                
  • Collaborate with team leads and all projects assigned  
  • Perfoms other job-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 0+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

 

The estimated base pay for this position is $79,200.00 to $118,800.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
