MS Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. The department is comprised of 10 organizations: Sales, Banking & Corporate-Client Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Client Reporting, Core Processing, Private and International Wealth Management Technology, Technology Integration Office, Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management, Capital Markets Application & Data Services, Deployment Planning & Release Management, and the Chief Operating Office.

Department Profile

Wealth Managements Core Platform Services group provides horizontal services to all Wealth management Development Teams. Our mission is to provide stable and scalable infrastructure and technology solutions for entire Wealth Management. We serve as a centralized interface through which Wealth Management teams can obtain infrastructure solutions and project support by working closely with application owners throughout the SDLC process to ensure that established products/services are leveraged, and new requirements are fulfilled.

Position Description

This position is for an opportunity to work in solution development team, a horizontal in Core Platform Services under Wealth Management, which Standardize, automate tools and processes for all the app dev team across WM division. We are looking for colleagues with strong sense of ownership and ability to drive solutions. The role is primarily responsible to manage all the tools owned by our team and come up with innovation to solve the problems for WMT developers. The candidate will architect and develop a sophisticated automation platform designed to streamline operational workflows, implement self-healing mechanisms, and efficiently manage infrastructure alerts. Working at the intersection of technical innovation and strategic partnership, they will collaborate cross-functionally to identify high-value automation opportunities, analyze recurring operational patterns, and develop reusable components. Success in this role requires not only designing reliable, scalable solutions with appropriate monitoring capabilities, but also championing automation adoption through documentation, training, and demonstrating quantifiable operational improvements while establishing governance and best practices throughout the automation development lifecycle.

The candidate is expected to code, conduct code reviews, and test software as needed, along with participating in application architecture and design and other aspects of Software Engineering.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player committed to delivering on time and should be able to work with without or minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement a scalable, distributed automation execution platform leveraging Celery for asynchronous task processing and workload management
• Establish comprehensive observability infrastructure integrating modern tools including Loki for log aggregation, Jaeger for distributed tracing, Prometheus for metrics collection, and Grafana for unified monitoring dashboards
• Develop and deploy a GitOps-driven self-service platform enabling automated configuration management, streamlined onboarding processes, and infrastructure-as-code practices
• Lead migration efforts to transform legacy Ansible automation workflows to modern Python-based orchestration solutions, improving flexibility and maintainability
• Design and implement an intelligent recommendation engine utilizing Generative AI technologies to provide data-driven insights and decision support capabilities

Required Skills

• Proficient in Python core programming, with experience in web frameworks such as FastAPI and Flask
• Strong understanding of Angular front-end development
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI concepts and applications
• Advanced SQL skills with knowledge of complex queries, optimization, and various database platforms
• Familiarity with implementing observability tools and monitoring best practices
• Solid UNIX/Linux command-line knowledge and scripting capabilities
• Experience with Azure cloud services and ecosystem
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Exceptional prioritization skills with ability to manage multiple tasks independently
• Self-directed work ethic with minimal supervision requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Demonstrated collaboration experience across cross-functional teams
• Track record of fostering positive, collaborative environments
• Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
