Join our team as the Engineering Lead for our Content area, where your strategic vision and technical expertise will directly impact how millions of travelers discover and interact with accommodations on our platform. In this pivotal role, you'll lead engineering teams responsible for processing and optimizing the critical data that powers the trivago experience. You'll navigate complex technical challenges while ensuring our content systems maintain the highest standards of quality, performance, and scalability. 

In this role, you'll collaborate with other tech leads across the organization to shape our overall technology strategy, advocate for innovative solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives. Your guidance will empower teams to deliver exceptional technology that transforms raw data into meaningful travel experiences for our users.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Lead and mentor engineering teams in the Content area, providing technical guidance, removing obstacles, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence 

• Collaborate closely with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions 

• Drive the technological strategy for content processing systems, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our platform and users 

• Participate in hiring and developing top engineering talent to build high-performing teams 

• Engage in cross-functional technical discussions about new product features, providing expert insights and recommendations 

• Coordinate with the broader tech leadership group to align Content area initiatives with company-wide technological strategies 

What you'll need to thrive:

• Proven experience in technical leadership roles, with a strong focus on guiding and empowering engineering teams 

• Experience with cloud technologies 

• Understanding of containerization and orchestration systems, specifically Kubernetes 

• Familiarity with at least one of Python, Java, or Kotlin 

• Experience with relational databases and SQL 

• Strong communication skills to effectively translate complex technical concepts across diverse audiences 

• Strategic thinking abilities with a talent for balancing innovation against practical implementation 

• Experience in facilitating technical discussions and guiding teams to optimal solutions 

• An academic background in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related areas 

• Fluency in English (our company language)

Stand out with:

• Knowledge of modern software engineering practices and methodologies 

• Track record of successfully implementing large-scale data processing systems 

• Experience delivering AI models to production environments 

• Experience in optimizing data pipelines for performance and reliability 

• Experience with Apache Kafka and Google Cloud services (BigQuery in particular) 

• Experience in the travel or hospitality industry
