Meta is seeking a Research Scientist to join our Multimodal research team. We are looking for recognized experts in generative AI, multimodal reasoning, NLP, with experience in areas like multimodal model training; data processing for pretraining and fine-tuning; LLM alignment; reinforcement learning for model tuning; efficient training and inference; image and video generation.Fundamental Multimodal Research Scientist - Generative AI Responsibilities
  • Directly contribute to experiments, including designing experimental details, writing reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results
  • Contribute to publications and open-sourcing efforts
  • Work with a large team
  • Help identify long-term ambitious research goals as well as intermediate milestones
  • Prioritize research that can be applied to Meta's product development
  • Mentor other team members. Play a significant role in healthy cross-functional collaboration
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A PhD in AI, computer vision, computer science, data science, or related technical fields.
  • Publications in machine learning
  • Experience developing software and executing complex experiments involving large AI models and datasets.
  • Experience holding an industry, faculty, or government researcher position.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in producing and applying new science to help us develop and deploy large multimodal models.
  • First author publications experience at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL).
  • Direct experience in generative AI, computer vision and multimodal research.
  • 2+ years of work experience in a university, industry, or government lab, in a role with primary emphasis on AI research.
  • Experience in developing and debugging in Python.

$70.67/hour to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
