The next phase of growth focuses on building robust data pipelines — ingesting supplier catalogs, updating stock and pricing in real time, and automating order workflows. In this role, you will lead the development and maintenance of these integrations end-to-end.

Responsibilities

  • Supplier Integrations: Design, build, and manage data pipelines using EDI (X12/EDIFACT), headless browser scraping, and non-public REST/GraphQL endpoints

  • Catalog Automation: Normalize packs, units, and SKUs across suppliers in Postgres; automate daily updates using cost-efficient polling strategies

  • Order Workflows: Automate purchase order submissions, track acknowledgments/ship notices, and integrate real-time status updates into the app

  • EDI Go-Live Support: Work with leadership and supplier IT teams to test, validate, and launch EDI connections with new distributors

  • Internal Tools: Build and maintain dashboards/APIs for catalog moderation, supplier onboarding, order exception handling, and role management

  • Access & Auditing: Implement RBAC and audit logs to trace changes in prices, orders, or SKUs

  • Reliability & DevOps: Own Docker-based CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code using AWS (Amplify, Lambda, EventBridge); implement monitoring, retries, and alerts

  • Autonomous Collaboration: Collaborate with frontend teams (React/Xano) on data contracts while delivering backend solutions independently

  • AI-Powered Development: Use tools like ChatGPT or Copilot to accelerate code, testing, and documentation

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years building production backend services at a startup or scale-up

  • CS degree or equivalent knowledge in algorithms, data structures, and networking

  • Hands-on experience with EDI (X12 850/810/855, EDIFACT ORDRSP/INVOIC) or expertise in reverse-engineering undocumented APIs/scraping

  • Proficiency in Python (preferred); Node.js/TypeScript a plus

  • Strong SQL and Postgres schema design skills; able to work with Xano data

  • Experience with Docker and AWS (Amplify, Lambda, S3, EventBridge)

  • Strong Git discipline and preference for incremental delivery

  • Self-starter mindset — comfortable turning vague problems into production-ready solutions

Nice-to-Haves

  • Background in food service supply chains, marketplaces, or ERP systems

  • Experience parsing PDF/CSV catalogs or developing ML models for catalog matching

Independent Contractor Perks

  • Permanent work-from-home setup

  • HMO coverage for eligible locations

  • Immediate hiring

  • Steady freelance job
