The Data Engineer II will report to the Managing Director, Enterprise Infrastructure and IT Operations in the Technology Department. This role drives insights with various stakeholders from business leaders to managers and teams to design and provide data solutions to meet the growing needs of the organization. We are a data first, cloud-based enterprise, focused on delivering data assets to external and internal clients.
• Manage and develop the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata.
• Strong business acumen, ability to interpret data not just collect it.
• Gather requirements from different business units and translate to engineering specifications.
• Evaluate Data Operations for inefficiencies and identify areas to create, automate, and develop tools.
• Help form data management and governance processes.
• Collaborate with data stewards to assess current and future business requirements as it relates to data governance and implement the necessary changes in the data governance solution.
• Interact with key stakeholders across the organization to promote adherence to best practices and standards as defined in the data governance solution.
• Be the administrator/subject matter expert for the data governance solution.
• Be a power user for governance solution and provide support and guidance to data stewards in the tasks of cataloging and curating data to support the organization’s data strategy.
• Manage Data Governance users and user roles.
• Work independently and with team members to understand database structure and business processes.
• Support the data warehouse in identifying and revising reporting requirements.
• Support initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
• Train end users on new reports, dashboards, and the data governance solution.
• Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications Years of Experience: • 3-5 years of experience in technical data analysis, data science, or data warehousing with proven business analysis experience. . Degree: • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Management, Economics, Finance or Statistics . Certification: • Technical Certifications a plus . Skills & Abilities: • 2-3+ years of experience with reporting tools of Power BI & SSRS
• 3-5+ years of experience using SQL
• Experience supporting business operations in an analytics capacity.
• Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Strong knowledge of and experience designing reports and dashboards with reporting packages/BI tools
• Ability to be a flexible, collaborative teammate who can deliver both high level explanations of complex problems and dive into solving complex problems.
• Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development and data mining.
• Experience working with finance, audit, or investment banking data.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Experience working with cloud-based platforms such as Snowflake, Synapse preferred.
• Experience with using an ETL management tool to wrangle data from business data sources into analytics databases is highly desirable.
• Experience using R or other programming languages is preferred.
• Experience in data governance a plus
• Experience in writing policies and procedures a plus
• Experience with business glossary, data dictionary, metadata management, and data lineage a plus
• Work experience in financial services preferred.
• Strong Vendor management skills preferred.
