Product Specialist - News Feeds & APIs

Role profile:

Financial news is at the core of LSEG’s value proposition to clients. The News Product Team is looking for a Product Specialist to join the team to support the development and management of the news feeds and API products.

Role summary:

The Product Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, customer support, and sales to ensure that our news feeds deliver the highest quality content to our users. This role will suit candidates who are technically minded and hard-working, with an appetite for innovation and a desire to apply technical and content knowledge.

What you'll be doing:

• Liaise with front-line teams to understand client requirements, analyze feedback, and help prioritize new features to improve product functionality.
• Facilitate customer migration efforts from legacy platforms to strategic products.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure clients have an easy, seamless integration of news products.
• Write and maintain comprehensive customer documentation to support clients in effectively using and integrating our products.
• Work with large data sets/news content to handle and analyze content delivered through news feeds.
• Drive the design and development of innovative products by using groundbreaking technologies such as GenAI, sophisticated analytics and natural language processing.
• Work with rights management and order management to ensure usage rights and products are segmented and compliant.
• Facilitate problem solving on content, discovery and product issues, tracking issues/ improvements and driving them to resolution.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor products, and new technologies to advise product development and innovation.

What you'll bring:

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Data Science or related field.
• 3-5 years of product management experience, preferably within the news or finance industry.
• Experience in data science and analysis, including machine learning and natural language processing to use insights to drive product decisions.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL is strongly preferred (e.g. experience using Jupyter Notebooks or similar tools to query content metadata or pre-process textual data), along with a strong understanding of handling news as a dataset.
• Experience working with API-based data delivery products, including designing, testing, documentation and client integration.
• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms, data warehouses, and data lakes for storing and analyzing structured and unstructured data.

• Strong documentation skills and ability to translate technical details into clear, user-friendly internal and client-facing material to help integrate our news feeds products.
• Intellectual curiosity and aim to create innovative product solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate sophisticated concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Competent at building strong customer relationships and resolving issues.
• Ability to understand sophisticated requirements and distill these into product specifications for developers to follow.
• Ability to prioritize while balancing the needs of the customers and stakeholders.
