Your mission

As a Junior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for improving automation and development workflow by enforcing best practices and implementing or developing support tools and frameworks. You will provide solutions to speed up deliveries while maintaining a high level of quality. You will be a bridge between dashboard designers/developers and Data Architects to ensure consistency and reduce implementation delays.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Analyze requirements and propose solutions that will best ensure customer needs are met

  • Work closely with Product Owners and Data Architects to ensure specifications have been correctly interpreted and translated into the product

  • Establish best practices that will improve the quality and time of delivery of the new features

  • Develop frameworks and/or tools that will implement and enforce these best practices

  • Develop frameworks and/or tools that will enhance the monitoring and alerting capabilities of the solution

  • Communicate project status regularly to Project Manager and Product Manager

  • Ensure completion of operational and technical documentation prior to software release for each application or system

  • Adhere to project management best practices

  • Report work in JIRA

Mandatory skills

  • Software development (mainly Java 11+, but open to working with a variety languages)

  • Software Factory (Jenkins/Linux) for CI/CD

  • Basic SQL knowledge, experience with SQL query optimization is a plus

  • Analytical skills and be able to understand and interpret the underlying matters

  • High level of commitment for excellence

  • Working experience in an Agile environment

  • Desire to work with teams in multiple countries, across time zones

  • Professional working proficiency in English

  • Experience with data processing technologies: Spark, RDBMs, Kafka, Liquibase, Qlik, Databricks...

  • Adhere to test first approach for software development (TDD, BDD): JUnit, AssertJ, Cucumber,...

  • Understanding of DevOps technologies: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Terraform, AWS,...

  • Interest in application monitoring/alerting using technologies like Prometheus/Micrometer, Splunk, WaveFront…
