Columbia Threadneedle Investments has established the Data Group function as a global enterprise team to deliver the firm’s data strategy to enable growth, efficiency and scale supporting our ambitions to continue to deliver value to our clients. The Data Group while provides BAU support to data consumers globally, is also driving the firm’s ambitions to design, deliver and continuously improve the firms core data capabilities.
The Product Data team as part of Data Group is responsible for supporting the data needs of Regulatory, Client Reporting activities and Factsheet publications. This involves sourcing, checking and organising multiple key sets of data, ensuring these meet rigorous data quality standards and business expectations. The team also plays a key role in the delivery of strategic change impacting core data sets and their consuming functions.
In this role you will provide leadership and ongoing management to ensure that the team continue to meet commitments to their consumers, provide consistently exceptional quality and timely service, act as experts of the data sets and data use cases they support.
You will also be instrumental in Data Group’s ongoing effort to transform CTI’s data landscape, focusing within that on the Regulatory and Client reporting data experience.
This role will report into the Co-Head of Global Data Operations (EMEA).

How you'll spend your time..

  • Lead a small team of data analysts, guiding their work and fostering a collaborative, learning-focused environment

  • Setting and managing priorities for the team, managing capacity and balancing BAU and change activities.

  • Ensure continuous improvement of the service, data sets provided and processes. Working with our onshore and offshore team in India to identify opportunities, size and deliver rationalisations when opportunity arises. 

  • Develop and transparently publish of KPI dashboards and metrics, demonstrating the performance of data services, meeting SLAs, team capacity and backlog.

  • Develop the medium to long term strategy for the data services provided by the team.

  • Active involvement in the definition and the delivery of core data capabilities within the Data Foundation initiative. In particular, active involvement in forming a strategic vision for key data components of Reporting content such as account / product /mandate data; positions, securities. 

  • Drive the adoption of / adherence to the Data Platform operating model, and the embedding of data standards. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationship with key business consumers – Regulatory and Client Reporting, as well as with key delivery partners - vendors, Technology, GT&C and the broader Data Group.


To be successful in this role you will have...

  • Prior experience within Data, specifically in Data Strategy / Data Management. Previous involvement in Reporting (Client / Regulatory) and / or Data Masters build / design is desirable.

  • Understanding of the content, data architecture and business use cases of key data domains, such as product, account, security, index, positions.

  • Deep understanding of the asset management industry, the data domains within an asset manager and key processes of asset management activities. 

  • A base level business understanding, relationship development with key stakeholders

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – verbal and written, with strong ability to develop key messages and narrative on topics and produce high quality reports and presentations.  Confidence in presenting KPIs and key messages to the senior management.

  • Strong attention to detail and high standards for data quality, service levels and customer focus.

  • Results driven, proactive, self-starter and goal orientated. A structured, independent thinker and highly organised with the ability to multi-task and balance a variety of responsibilities, knowing when to escalate and seek guidance on prioritisation

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build good relationships both within Data Group, and with Technology, key Business stakeholders.

  • Previous leadership, team management experience. 

  • Strong level of competency in handling large number of data, technical tools to query, manipulate, transform data.
