Job Title: Data Scientist II

Location: 1114 Avenue of Americas, New York, NY 10036

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from The Trade Desk, Inc. office in New York, NY.

Job Duties: Identify relationships in data on consumer behavior of internet users, and apply statistical methods to predict consumer behavior for specific clients. Compare the outputs of competing models and algorithms to predict user behavior and determine the highest performing methods. Develop statistical models and translate new methods into computer code that runs in customer-facing or customer-impacting parts of The Trade Desk’s software product. Test software products for performance, particularly components applying statistical methods. Review company and client data for inaccuracies before using it as an input to an analysis or model, and apply weights to the raw data to make it more representative in cases where the data is not a representative sample of the desired population. Process datasets ranging up to hundreds of terabytes in size that will be processed to generate features (signals) for input to statistical models to predict consumer behavior. Select and recommend statistical methods based on business needs. Develop statistical analysis and models and communicate them to business stakeholders in written form. Work with multiple large data sets, including proprietary company and client data, which may be partial (missing data) or unreliable (incorrect data). Make regular presentations regarding results of analyses and/or performance of statistical models and their relation to the business.

Salary: $170,373 - $227,000/year

Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Data Science, Business Intelligence, Analytics or related field and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or related role OR Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Data Science, Business Intelligence, Analytics or related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related role. Must have four (4) years of experience with: Python; Spark; and SQL. Must have three (3) years of end-to-end experience with machine learning projects. Must have three (3) years of experience with deep learning techniques, including CNN, RNN, or Transformer.

CO, CA, IL, NY, WA, and Washington DC residents only: In accordance with CO, CA, IL, NY, WA, and Washington DC law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.  Employees can also purchase The Trade Desk stock at a discount through The Trade Desk’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $170,373—$227,000 USD
