Estimated annual base pay: $79,360 (minimum) - $99,200 (midpoint) - $119,040 (maximum)

The Data Scientist II provides moderate data analysis and engineering support for various Woodward functional groups (including Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, and others). This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in data science and a growing interest or experience in data engineering. The position involves gathering, transforming, and preparing data for analysis and modeling to derive technical, process, and business value. The incumbent works under moderate supervision and seeks guidance on more advanced problem-solving tasks.
What you will be doing…
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business problems, solutions, and priorities, ensuring solutions align with work standards.
Translate business requirements into data-driven solutions using statistical and machine learning techniques.
Apply statistical analysis and predictive modeling to datasets of varying sizes to solve specific business challenges.
Extract, clean, and format structured and unstructured data for moderately complex problem-solving.
Engineer features and build data pipelines to support datasets, machine learning, and analytics workflows.
Evaluate the performance and effectiveness of AI/ML models and suggest improvements.
Work with data engineering teams to develop scalable data infrastructure and monitor product performance.
Maintain a growth mindset by pursuing self-development in data science and engineering.
Build strong, trustworthy relationships across teams through collaboration and partnership.
Optionally mentor junior Data Scientists, participate in reviews, and represent the organization through publishing or presentations.
What we are looking for…
Required Skills:
Solid background in statistics, mathematics, and data science principles.
Strong communication skills to present insights to diverse audiences.
Effective team collaboration, project participation, and proficient time management/problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Interest or experience in data engineering tools and practices (e.g., ETL, data pipelines, cloud platforms).
Exposure to tools like SQL, Python, Airflow, dbt, and cloud platforms is a plus.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) required.
Experience:
2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree with relevant coursework or projects.
