Proxima Fusion
We are Europe's fastest-growing fusion startup, building the first generation of fusion power plants using quasi-isodynamic (QI) stellaratorsāthe clearest, most robust path to putting fusion on the grid.
WHO WE AREAt Proxima Fusion, we're driven by a bold mission ā to redefine the future of sustainable energy. Our unique concept, built upon the groundbreaking W7-X stellarator and the latest advances in technology, paves the way for commercially viable fusion power plants.
Whatās more, our work in stellarator optimization, powered by cutting-edge computation and machine learning, is propelling us into uncharted territories of fusion technology. New higher performance design points are unlocked by high temperature superconducting magnets.
To fully grasp this huge opportunity, weāre building a team of extremely dedicated and passionate people who come together driving something extraordinary, radically transforming technology in the world.
WHY JOIN PROXIMA FUSION- You will get to work on some of the most complex tech challenges to bring abundant, safe, clean energy to the world.- You'll get to join and learn from an exceptional selection of accomplished and driven individuals.- Do your lifeās best work and enjoy the journey.- Get to show that big things are possible in Europe when you assemble the best talent.
YOUR IMPACTProxima Fusionās simulation-first approach will be defined by the software infrastructure and tools enabling it. Our challenge is to build software enabling exploration of the vast hyper-dimensional space of stellarator design in order to maximise feasibility and minimise cost.
The Dev Platform team is building the foundation for our highly integrated, simulation-driven approach to stellarator design. Our core data, compute, and analysis infrastructure enables research and development across the company. In this role, you will collaborate directly with fusion experts, engineers, and AI researchers to create infrastructure and shape the way we develop software. If you have strong software design skills, a focus on product quality, and a proactive mindset, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a future powered by fusion.
WHAT YOU WILL DO- Understanding the goals and challenges of our simulation and design teams.- Developing the infrastructure and tools that support our simulation and data-driven approach.- Contributing and reviewing code across our full simulation and analysis stack.- Defining and implementing cross-org software engineering best practices, development and deployment tools.- Mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
WHO YOU ARE - An experienced engineer with a strong foundation in computer science, engineering or a related field.- Proficient in at least two of Python, C++, Rust, or TypeScript.- Experienced with the development and management of data infrastructure and processing pipelines in large-scale cloud environments.- Experienced in end-to-end/full-stack system design, ideally within an environment supporting physics, engineering, or AI teams.- Driven to solve complex problems with simple solutions and a desire to contribute to clean energy.
