The IT Business Intelligence team is currently seeking a Student IT (Corporate) - BI Data Engineering/ETL for the period of July to December 2025.  This position will be located at our downtown Vancouver corporate office.

About the Role

West Fraser’s BI Team is seeking a curious and technically inclined Student (IT corporate) to support our data engineering and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. This role is ideal for a student interested in data architecture, cloud platforms, and building scalable data solutions. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with large datasets and modern data tools in a collaborative environment. 

What You’ll Do:

• Assist in maintaining and testing ETL pipelines and data workflows.
• Support the team in assembling and validating large datasets from various sources.
• Help document data processes, architecture, and transformation logic.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives such as automation and optimization.
• Learn and apply SQL to query and manipulate data.
• Collaborate with BI developers and data architects on data modeling and integration tasks.
• Contribute to the development of tools that support analytics and reporting.

What You Bring:

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Interest in data engineering, cloud technologies, and ETL processes.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and data structures.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms is an asset.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and contribute to technical projects in a team setting.
