Your Impact: As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of talented AI/ML Engineers, driving the development of high-quality AI-powered solutions while fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader who is passionate about mentoring engineers, optimizing development processes, and delivering impactful technology in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will report directly to the Director of Engineering, playing a pivotal role in the people, process, and cultural development of the AI/ML team. Your focus will be on optimizing team operations, fostering a strong team culture, and ensuring seamless collaboration across departments and global time zones. You will be a crucial bridge, translating strategic directives into actionable plans for the team and ensuring their well-being and growth, ultimately maximizing AI's contribution to Clearer.io's revenue and customer experience. This role is essential to providing the daily management and support the team needs, especially given time zone differences and broader leadership focuses.

What You'll Do:

• Lead and manage a team of AI/ML engineers, fostering collaboration, technical excellence, and career growth.
• Own the delivery of AI/ML engineering projects, ensuring high-quality, timely execution, and alignment with Clearer.io's product roadmap.
• Strategically manage and provide architectural consultation for data systems supporting AI/ML applications, ensuring robust collection, storage, processing, integration, accuracy, security, compliance with regulations, and accessibility of data.
• Define team goals, KPIs, and success metrics specifically for AI/ML initiatives, aligning them with overall business objectives.
• Promote effective coordination and communication between the AI/ML team and other Product teams and other Engineering teams to ensure seamless AI integration into existing and future products.
• Promote engineering best practices, including security, testing, and operational excellence within the context of AI/ML development.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of AI projects.
• Coach, mentor, and develop individual contributors within the AI/ML team, supporting their career growth, encouraging them to expand their knowledge of business domains and how AI contributes value.
• Participate in hiring, team expansion, and succession planning for AI/ML engineering talent.
• Manage incident response processes, drive post-mortem analyses, and improve system reliability for AI/ML systems.
• Balance technical debt, feature development, and long-term engineering strategy for the AI/ML roadmap.

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent and 6+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
• Experience with e-commerce and with specific experience of Shopify a plus!
• Understanding of or prior experience with AI/Machine Learning principles, machine learning, or working with AI/ML teams is a significant advantage. Familiarity with common AI/ML concepts and technologies (e.g., model training, data pipelines, typical frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, or platforms like Databricks/AWS SageMaker), including an understanding of advanced architectures like Transformers and the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead and manage technical teams, drive execution, and deliver results in a software development environment.
• Experience in cloud computing (AWS, GCP, or Azure), microservices, and distributed systems.
• Proven ability to lead teams with a DevOps mindset, cultivating a culture of collaboration by leveraging agile practices, automation, and CI/CD to drive software quality and delivery speed.
• Experience with incident management, reliability engineering, and monitoring strategies.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to align engineering initiatives with business needs and communicate effectively with cross-departmental and cross-country stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and grow engineering talent.
• Strong grasp of software architecture, API design, and scalability challenges.
