Join us in our quest to change how people work with data and make a better world!   As a Specialist Solutions Architect (SSA) – Cloud Infrastructure Management, you will be responsible for building and managing internal cloud infrastructure resources and environments that align with our security and budget requirements. These resources will be used by our Go-To-Market teams, including Solutions Architects and Account Executives. You will collaborate with and support Solutions Architects, who deliver technical demos and proofs of concept for our Data and AI products to support successful sales outcomes. This role requires hands-on experience with public cloud platforms—AWS, Azure, and GCP. You will also develop and implement technical tools that improve cost and time efficiency. As a key member of our Field Engineering Center of Excellence, you will contribute to enhancing the overall productivity of the team.

The impact you will have:

• Build and maintain internal cloud infrastructure for demos, training, proofs of concept, and more—across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Abstract complexity of internal infrastructure management through building internal applications and automation.
• Architect production-level deployments, ensuring alignment with security and networking requirements.
• Become a technical expert in areas such as cloud platforms, automation, security, networking, or identity management.
• Assist Solutions Architects with advanced aspects of the technical sales process, including custom proofs of concept and tailored architectures.
• Partner with Scale teams and Technical Enablement to develop internal documentation and drive overall productivity.
• Oversee cloud spend for the Field Engineering organization across Azure, AWS, and GCP. This includes participating in monthly cloud cost review meetings, monitoring infrastructure usage to align with team growth, and addressing capacity or performance issues.
• Design and implement automation to optimize and reduce cloud expenditures.

What we look for:

• 5+ years of experience in a technical role with expertise in at least one of the following areas:
  • Cloud Platforms & Architecture: Cloud-native architecture in CSPs such as AWS, Azure, and GCP; serverless architecture
  • Platform Administration: High availability and disaster recovery, cluster management, observability, logging, monitoring, auditing, cost management
  • Infrastructure Automation and InfraOps using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, building internal web application in full stack with Next.js, TypeScript, and Python
  • Security: Platform security, network security, data security, GenAI & model security, encryption, vulnerability management, compliance
  • Networking: Architecture design, implementation, and performance
  • Identity Management: Provisioning, SCIM, OAuth, SAML, federation
• Experience maintaining and evolving complex Databricks environments
• Deep specialty expertise in at least one of the following:
  • Security: Securing data platforms and managing identities
  • Complex deployments
  • Public cloud: Designing data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP, using best practices in cloud security and networking
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• Hands-on experience with Python; proficiency in SQL; experience with Terraform is desirable
• Hands-on experience building web applications that abstract cloud deployments is a strong plus
• 2+ years of professional experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) and related architectures

Location and travel:
This role is remote; however, preference will be given to candidates located in the designated job listing area. The position requires up to 30% travel.

 

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
