Leidos seeks highly qualified and trained Senior Computer Scientist to provide expert guidance and direction underpinning Leidos on-site support to research and development activities on Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.

Your Main Mission:

Individual will provide advanced technical expertise and leadership in the development, integration, and deployment of cutting-edge technologies to support range of Research & Development (R&D)-focused missions, to include proof of concepts, testing, integration and validation of secure communications and network technologies, Cryptographic Modernization, and development and employment of defensive Cyberspace capabilities.

  • Provide strategic leadership on complex policy issues involving technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Analytics, Autonomous Systems, and Cybersecurity

  • Lead and oversee complex R&D projects and provide guidance on the design, development, and implementation of advanced software and systems

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to meet mission requirements

  • Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept systems to demonstrate new capabilities

  • Collaborate with academic, industrial, and government partners to leverage cutting-edge innovations

  • Integrate hardware, software, and network solutions to enhance the Army's operational capabilities, with focus on ensuring interoperability between different systems and platforms

  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of systems in simulated and real-world environments

  • Contribute to the command’s strategic vision by identifying future technological trends and gaps and assist in defining priorities and aligning R&D efforts with Army modernization goals

  • Mentor junior computer scientists and engineers to build technical expertise within the organization and foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders

  • Interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and guidance relevant to organization’s objectives

  • Communicate complex information, concepts, or ideas in a confident and well-organized manner through verbal, written, and/or visual means

  • Prepare and perform briefings appropriate for senior leadership (i.e., general officer or flag officer)

  • Develop standards, metrics and measures to support assessments, process improvements and operational efficiencies across supported command

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Top Secret clearance eligible for access to SCI and a Counterintelligence polygraph

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field

  • 12+ years’ experience with design, development, testing, and evaluation of complex computer-based systems relating to Cryptographic Modernization technologies

  • 10+ yrs’ experience in programming of Encryption Algorithms and demonstrated design experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in Interoperability Specifications and best practices; Integration of AI technology and advancements in ML; Software development and systems integration; Cybersecurity and Information Assurance; Data Analytics; and Command and Control (C2) systems

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or others depending on project needs

  • Demonstrated experience with National Security Agency Certification process of cryptographic products

  • Demonstrated experience with software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevSecOps)

  • Strong knowledge Network protocols and systems, Cybersecurity tools and best practices, Cloud computing and distributed systems, modeling, simulation, and system testing

  • Understanding of DoD acquisition processes and policies

  • Broad knowledge of Blue-space Cyber capabilities and demonstrate understanding of available Cyber infrastructure or platforms to conduct Defensive Cyberspace Operations

  • Ability to support timely, accurate, relevant analytical production, to include documents, summaries, issue papers, talking points, and briefings with demonstrated proficiency working in a fast-paced collaborative environment, ability to proactively multi-task and meet short deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey complex and technical data to nontechnical consumers

  • Able to work across DoD and Intelligence Community to support organizational goals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding Army CIO/G6 programmatic requirement development

  • Current or previous experience supporting US Army elements on Aberdeen Proving Ground

  • Masters’ Degree within STEM field or discipline related to Computer Science or Information Technology

  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent

  • Possess advanced technical certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or AWS Certified Solutions Architect

  • Demonstrated experience incorporating AI and ML into operations at any level to increase efficiency and effectiveness of operational outcome

Clearance Required:

  • Must possess a Top Secret clearance eligible for access to SCI and Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph or ability to obtain CI polygraph by contract start

Pay Range:

Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
