Role Summary

As a member of the Data Science Center of Expertise (DSCOE), the DS Senior Manager is a leadership role to lead, grow and manage a data science team within CIGNA group that will support the development and maintenance of machine learning models, with a focus to meet the required business. The role will require collaboration with different geographical teams and many other lines of businesses

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data scientists and analysts to deliver cutting-edge data solutions aligned with business goals.
• Develop and execute data science strategies to address critical business challenges, leveraging predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, business) to identify opportunities for data-driven innovation and optimization.
• Design scalable data pipelines and workflows, ensuring the integrity, reliability, and security of data systems.
• Translate business problems into analytical frameworks and actionable insights using statistical methods and advanced modeling techniques.
• Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership in a clear and impactful manner.
• Stay updated with emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in data science and implement best practices.
• Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the success and ROI of data science initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
• Experience: 13-16 years of experience in data science, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale data science projects that drive measurable business impact.
• Strong proficiency and advanced knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and deep learning frameworks and architecture (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong proficiency in ML, statistics, python or R, SQL, version control (e.g., Git),
• Ability to promote best coding practices, championing a culture of documentation/logging
• Thorough understanding of ML lifecycle, including necessary tradeoffs and associated risks
• Experience in healthcare (claims data knowledge) will be highly preferred
