About the role: 

The Nuclear Company is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Analytics Engineer to join our growing data team. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring data professional to launch their career in a critical and impactful industry. 

The Junior Analytics Engineer will support the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure and analytical solutions. Working closely with senior engineers and data scientists, you will help transform raw data into actionable insights, enabling informed decision-making across our engineering, operations, and business functions within the nuclear energy domain. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, contribute to challenging data problems, and develop expertise in data modeling, pipeline development, and data visualization. 

Responsibilities:

Data Extraction & Transformation:  

  • Assist in the extraction, loading, and transformation of data from various sources (e.g., operational databases, sensor data, enterprise systems). 
  • Support the development and maintenance of ETL/ELT pipelines under the guidance of senior engineers. 
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability. 

Data Modeling & Reporting:  

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of data models that support analytical reporting and business intelligence initiatives. 
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools to visualize key performance indicators and trends. 
  • Assist in fulfilling ad-hoc data requests from various departments. 

Collaboration & Support:  

  • Work collaboratively with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions. 
  • Provide technical support for existing data products and analytical tools. 
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to documentation of data processes and models. 

Data Quality & Governance:  

  • Learn and apply best practices for data governance and data quality, ensuring that data used for analysis is consistent and trustworthy. 
  • Support efforts to maintain data integrity and security, understanding the importance of these in a highly regulated industry. 

Continuous Learning:  

  • Actively learn new data engineering tools, technologies, and methodologies. 
  • Stay informed about data trends and best practices relevant to the nuclear energy sector. 

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. 
  • 2+ years of experience in a data-related role (e.g., internship, academic project, entry-level position). 
  • Foundational understanding of SQL for data querying and manipulation. 
  • Basic programming skills in Python or R, or equivalent skills in Java, C++, JavaScript, Go, etc. 
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and relational databases. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and concepts. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with a cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP). 
  • Familiarity with a version control system (e.g., Git). 
  • Experience with a business intelligence tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker). 
  • Basic understanding of the nuclear energy industry or other highly regulated environments. 
  • Internship experience in data analytics or data engineering.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: 

The estimated starting salary range for this role is $121,000 - $143,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a semi-monthly basis.  The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
