Connect frontline teams, boost engagement, and make every shift more productive. Are you passionate about leveraging artificial intelligence to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Frontline Workers? At Beekeeper, we’re dedicated to enhancing the daily experiences of those who keep our world running smoothly. We build technology that empowers millions of frontline employees - and we want you to help us take it to the next level.
As an AI Intern, you will join our AI Platform Team in Zurich to help design, prototype, and deploy AI-driven features in our product. This 6 month paid internship (full-time) gives you a unique opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges and shape how AI is used in the frontline industry. You will kickstart your career with hands-on projects, working alongside experienced engineers and potentially showcasing your work with industry partners (we recently collaborated with AWS on an AI initiative).
At Beekeeper, interns work closely with dedicated product squads and senior AI engineers to bring intelligent features to life. You’ll receive mentorship and feedback in an open, collaborative environment as you build solutions that impact real users from day one. Together with our talented technical and product teams, you will have ample opportunities to learn new skills and grow your career.
Your responsibilities
- Integrate AI models into product features: Contribute to integrating cutting-edge AI models into our platform to solve practical problems for frontline workers.
- Deploy and monitor AI solutions: Help deploy machine learning solutions to production and monitor their performance and cost-effectiveness, ensuring they run smoothly at scale.
- Collaborate on AI-driven features: Work with product squads to develop new AI-driven features that enhance user experience and add value for our customers.
- Quality and improvement: Track the quality of AI outcomes and help improve models through experiments and tuning to continuously increase accuracy and efficiency.
What we look for in you
- Education & Theoretical Knowledge: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or a related field (ideally at ETH Zurich or equivalent). You have a strong academic background in machine learning or AI (relevant courses in ML, AI, statistics, etc.).
- Hands-on ML Experience: No professional experience is required, but you demonstrate passion and skill through projects. You have done course projects, research assignments, personal or open-source projects in ML/AI that you can talk about.
- Programming Skills: Strong programming abilities in Python, including familiarity with ML libraries and frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow or PyTorch, scikit-learn). You write clean, reliable code and can pick up new languages or tools as needed.
- Machine Learning Fundamentals: Solid understanding of fundamental ML concepts and algorithms (regression, classification, clustering, etc.) and how to evaluate model performance. Knowledge of deep learning or generative AI is a plus.
- Problem-Solving & Learning Agility: Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills. Able to rapidly prototype solutions and eager to learn new technologies and techniques in a fast-paced AI field.
- Team Player: Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team. You’re proactive, curious, and not afraid to ask questions or share ideas.
Bonus Points
- Previous Internship or Research Experience: Any prior experience in industry or academia (internships, research projects or relevant part-time jobs) where you worked on software or data engineering, machine learning models, or similar projects.
- Cloud & MLOps Exposure: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container or MLOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, etc.) - for example, knowing how models can be deployed or scaled in a cloud environment.
- Open Source & Competitions: Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects, or participation in data science competitions (e.g. Kaggle) or hackathons. This shows us you’re enthusiastic and active in the AI community.
- Publications or Awards: Published research papers in AI/ML or awards from academic competitions and conferences are a great plus (but not required!). They demonstrate a deeper engagement with the field
What we offer
- Paid Internship & Real Impact: A paid full-time internship (6 months) where your work will directly contribute to product features and improve the daily lives of frontline workers. This is not coffee-running - you’ll work on meaningful tasks and see the impact of your code in production.
- Mentorship and Learning: Guidance and support from a team of experienced AI engineers and software developers. You’ll have regular one-on-ones, code reviews, and opportunities to learn best practices in ML engineering and MLOps. We also encourage continuous learning through internal tech talks and a personal learning & development budget (for books, courses, etc.).
- Cutting-Edge Environment: An opportunity to work with state-of-the-art AI technologies and modern infrastructure. You’ll gain experience with our tech stack (Python, ML frameworks, cloud services, etc.) and learn how to deploy and scale AI solutions in a production environment.
- Dynamic, Inclusive Culture: You will be part of a diverse, multicultural team that values collaboration and inclusion. We foster a supportive culture where everyone’s ideas are welcome. Beekeeper is committed to ethical AI practices and responsible innovation, so you’ll learn how to build AI solutions that are as fair and transparent as they are powerful.
