Job Summary

The Opportunity:
Mass General Brigham Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) is seeking an experienced Data Visualization Developer who has a passion for healthcare data and will thrive as a member of an experienced, high performing and highly motivated team. This person will have a desire to learn and a flexibility to adjust to the fast-changing analytic and reporting demands of our system. The best candidate has solid analytical and communication skills, and experience working with health care data. Reporting to the High Reliability Organization (HRO) Analytics Manager, the Data Visualization Developer will be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing new clinical data products. The areas of focus include Quality, Safety, Health Equity, Community Health, Patient Experience, Provider Wellbeing, Credentialing, and Pharmacy and Formulary. The ideal candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to define and achieve strategic objectives. They will ideate with stakeholders on dashboard designs, develop high-quality visualizations, and ensure a consistent user experience that aligns with stakeholder needs. They will collaborate with data analysts and engineers to define data requirements for visualizations, support the development of data product definitions, adhere to design and data standards, and conduct thorough quality assurance. The candidate will also be responsible for presenting dashboard demos, facilitating user acceptance testing, and resolving any data or functionality issues.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works with a cross-functional team to understand functional product requirements and deliver on strategic data and analytics initiatives.
• Works with stakeholders to ideate on wireframe designs for visualization of data products.
• Accrues advanced knowledge of the OCMO product domains and can quickly apply design strategies to convey the data story clearly and succinctly in high-quality dashboard visualizations.
• Designs, develops, and supports high-quality dashboard visualizations which provide a consistent user experience and highlight key data elements determined by stakeholders.
• Partners with data analysts and analytics engineers to determine data extraction and transformation requirements for data visualizations.
• Collaborates with data analysts to develop visualizations for ad-hoc analyses, as well as produce visualizations for internal and external communications in a variety of presentation formats (sides, reports, newsletters, etc.)
• Follows established design and data standards, resolves data issues, and completes functional and technical documentation.
• Completes thorough quality assurance procedures ensuring accuracy, reliability, trustworthiness, and validity of work.
• Presents dashboard demonstrations to stakeholders and end-users to ensure appropriate onboarding of new tools and answer questions related to functionality.
• Facilitates User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process prior to rolling out new dashboards and enhancements.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree Information Systems preferred

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?

Experience
experience of designing reports and dashboards using Tableau and other data visualization tools 2-3 years required experience of programming languages and/or statistical software (SQL, SAS, Python, or R) 2-3 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to function effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment, organize and prioritize work independently, and meet tight deadlines.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization.
- Practical problem-solving abilities, i.e. the ability to formulate hypotheses and test options.
- Strong visualization and usability design skills.
- Intermediate SQL skills.
- Tableau certification(s) a plus.
