Job Description:

The role is essential for realizing Shell’s ambition of Powering Progress Together through building out our Trading & Supply digital capabilities, enabling data analytics, GenAI and automation, ultimately delivering an improved experience for our front, mid, and back-office Trading teams.

The Analyst will support the Head of Data and Digital Transformation, working in collaboration with the rest of the team to deliver customer-centric solutions to stakeholders in Shell LNG Marketing and Trading (SLMT) global businesses.

The team works flexibly, collaborating between team members to get the job done while respecting individual’s personal requirements and circumstances. Typically, solutions to business pain points are expected to be understood, designed, and developed in short timescales, e.g., up to 3 months in duration, and can be solved with common ‘Citizen developer’ (Shell.diy) tools such as MS Power Platform, with an understanding of enterprise architecture, data models and data integration methods.

This position has the following accountabilities:

  • Understand and stay abreast of relevant technologies within or outside of the Shell.diy framework. Research potential solutions within the confines of the Shell.diy framework and contribute to the development of innovative ideas and solutions
  • Configure, develop, and document software and processes, using agreed standards and tools within the Shell.diy framework, including data analysis/visualization
  • Support SLMT Digital Transformation goals through proposing improvements in culture, ways of working, value, cost, process, data, technology, and functionality, contributing to the development of long-term digital capabilities within SLMT
  • When delivering with/through IDT, assist in shaping the problem and supporting the project through to completion/operate phase
    • Capture business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements, including data and supportability considerations, ensuring traceability of requirements from business needs and requirements, through testing and scope changes, to final solution.
    • Assist in translating business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options. Identify and articulate benefits to justify solution value and establish approval, funding, and prioritization. Support Business Analysis activities on projects within agreed parameters of cost, time, and quality.
    • Participate in stakeholder management activities, including preparation and facilitation of design sessions.
    • Assist in the assessment and modeling of processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Create clear documentation to communicate requirements and related information; keep updated to align with the solution over the project lifecycle
  • Required: Experience working with common off-the-shelf Shell.diy packages and/or ETRMs such as Endur, MS Power platform (PowerBI, PowerApps, Power Apps), Salesforce, Qlik Sense. Ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in at least one of these areas.
  • Required: Experience in converging business requirements and system capabilities alongside customer-centric thinking, with the ability to describe a ‘Design thinking’ approach.
  • Required: Experience in data analysis and modeling, manipulating large data sets in common tools such as Excel (or Tableau/Alteryx)
  • Required: Knowledge of enterprise architecture and integration methods, including data lakes and cloud infrastructure.
  • Required: Delivery mindset with a focus on hitting deadlines and milestones while working in a flexible way; ability to take a systematic and analytical approach to problem-solving and pay close attention to detail.
  • Required: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization alongside a ‘can-do’ attitude and a strong focus on developing a diverse and inclusive working environment.
  • Required: Ability to help define solutions that are not just technical in nature and may require people, process, or data changes to resolve.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in coding with Python
  • Preferred: Comfort with databases like SQL.
  • Preferred: Experience with Databricks.
  • Preferred: Experience of working in a Trading environment.
  • Preferred: Experience working in Agile projects and educating stakeholders, including Product Owners and Business partners, in Agile ways of working

Other dimensions include:

  • Typical Years of Experience: 4+ years in a fast-paced business environment such as Trading or Product Development
  • Minimum Education or Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Engineering or similar
  • Typical Job Grade of applicant’s Supervisor/Manager: JG2 or higher.

Some travel between the trading hubs will be required.
