About the Role

As a Data & AI Governance Engineer, you'll blend technical expertise to drive excellence across our data landscape. You'll be instrumental in establishing best practices that ensure our data assets are discoverable, well-managed, and optimally utilized.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive engineering excellence by defining and supporting coding & architectural best practices
  • Design and develop specialized upskilling programs for data, ML, and AI domains
  • Create internal tools used by technical teams to improve and monitor project development processes and quality
  • Conduct independent technical reviews for projects and provide architectural guidance to development teams
  • Foster a culture of data & engineering quality through stakeholder engagement, training, and consulting
  • Guide engineering teams in implementing data governance policies and collaborate on policy creation
  • Work closely with internal Tech and Business stakeholders at all levels to integrate quality standards
  • Stay current with the latest technology trends and regulatory changes impacting data & engineering quality

 

About the Team

You'll join a diverse and impactful team that sits at the intersection of AI technology, policy, and engineering excellence. As the global focus point of data governance in the company, we shape how Data & AI is governed across the organization, ensuring our data landscape is discoverable, up-to-date, and follows engineering best practices. We support hybrid and international collaboration, working closely with engineering teams across locations including Zurich, Bratislava, Bangalore, and beyond.

 

About You

We understand that nobody meets 100% of requirements. If you meet some of the criteria below and are genuinely curious about the world of data engineering and governance, we'd be delighted to connect with you.

 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, Statistics,
  • Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Python and/or TypeScript for backend and/or full-stack tool development
  • Ambition to promote software engineering best practices in production-grade data ingestion and transformation pipelines
  • Commitment to staying updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes

 

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience in distributed computing/databases (e.g., Spark)
  • Experience in building/designing data processing pipelines and data dashboards
  • Interest in working closely with data engineers, data scientists, and domain experts
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management and external partners
  • Drive to promote adherence to data governance policies and actively participate in defining these policies

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 2,400] and [EUR 4,100] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:​

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, ​
  • the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.​

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.​ Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.​
