Lead Product Manager – AI/ML Patterns

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH / Chicago, IL

SUMMARY:  

The AI/ML Patterns team at 84.51 is designing and developing best-practice patterns for AI and ML practice. We synthesize the latest and best in AI and ML, build foundational tooling and reusable patterns, and drive adoption by technical users to transform the Kroger enterprise.  

The LEAD PRODUCT MANAGER for this team will discover, prioritize, help design, and drive adoption of reusable patterns for AI and ML systems. You will partner closely with a team of data scientists and software engineers to drive the design, development, delivery, and adoption of these reusable patterns. You own the details of the business and technical value delivered at the product level. You translate business requirements and technical considerations into product requirements to ensure that the product delivers on business and user needs. You work with customer teams and users to ensure successful adoption and use. This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills, technical acumen, and AI and ML domain knowledge.  

 You will be successful if the team delivers reusable patterns that help technical users on business teams generate new value, develop their projects faster, promote best practices, and reduce risk of AI and ML systems. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Drive business value for the team by discovering, prioritizing, and designing AI and ML patterns into a product roadmap. 
  • Manage and maintain a visible and up-to-date product roadmap promoting transparency for the development team and stakeholders. 
  • Partner with cross-functional technical leads to translate the roadmap and product requirements into effective quarter/cycle/sprint plans that are ready for development and delivery. 
  • Outline clear product requirements and acceptance criteria to clearly communicate the definition of “done” for development teams. 
  • Facilitate user testing of products to gain a first-hand perspective of how users work with the product(s). 
  • Research the technical needs of business users to inform product strategy and roadmap prioritization. 
  • Analyze product usage data to inform product strategy and roadmap prioritization. 
  • Drive adoption of products among customer business teams and users. 
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry-standard AI and ML patterns and best practices. 
  • Internalize and communicate organization strategies, objectives, and expectations. 
  • Manage and communicate progress toward objectives, potential cross-team dependencies, troublesome blocks, and any additional risks. 
  • Develop and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships to influence and drive change. 
  • Communicate realized value driven by customer usage of the product(s). 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Professional experience in AI and ML systems and applications 
  • Professional experience in managing technical and business stakeholders 
  • Professional experience in ambiguous environments 
  • Skilled in a general technical acumen, able to efficiently converse with data scientists and software engineers and understand their development processes 
  • Skilled in managing cross-functional technical development teams in an agile environment 
  • Skilled in managing business priorities against design/user needs while delivering against product roadmaps 
  • Skilled in managing end-to-end software product development 
  • Skilled in problem solving, analytic thinking, and creativity 
  • Skilled in planning, organization, and verbal/written business communication 
  • Skilled in maintaining a positive leader persona in ambiguous and changing environments 
  • Skilled in quickly flexing between technical and business stakeholder conversations, adapting to a variety of audiences 
  • Demonstrated excellence as a teammate and leader 
  • 4-6 years relevant experience 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • The stated salary range represents the entire span applicable across all geographic markets from lowest to highest.  Actual salary offers will be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data and cost of labor. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for variable compensation.
