Overview
As a Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst at eClinicalWorks, you will identify and address the reporting, data analysis, and business intelligence needs of our customers. You will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to design workflows and transform data into meaningful insights that support high-quality patient care. You will also work with customers’ finance departments to analyze financial data and deliver key performance indicators that drive sound business decisions.
Success in this role requires a strong understanding of the healthcare industry, including both clinical and financial operations. BI Analysts are also responsible for educating and training customers to use data effectively through dashboards, visualizations, and analytical tools.
Roles & Responsibilities
 
Analyze Business Intelligence Requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and validate BI and reporting requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and data models.
  • Analyze industry trends and regulatory requirements to inform report design.
  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of custom reporting needs and delivery timelines.
Development
  • Design and develop reporting solutions & metadata using IBM Cognos, SQL (MSSQL/MySQL), and other BI tools.
  • Build and maintain reporting modules for federal/state incentive programs and internal products.
  • Create dashboards and visualizations that support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouse solutions to support scalable and efficient data storage, integration, and retrieval across clinical, operational, and financial domains.
  • Integrate external and internal data sources using APIs to enrich reporting capabilities and enable real-time data access.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data pipelines are optimized for reporting and analytics use cases.
  • Implement predictive analytics and forecasting models using AI/ML techniques to deliver actionable insights for EHR customers.
  • Apply machine learning algorithms to identify trends, anomalies, and patterns in patient care, billing, and operational workflows.
  • Work with data scientists and clinical informaticists to translate complex models into actionable insights for end users.
  • Ensure all reports and models comply with healthcare data privacy and security standards (e.g., HIPAA).
Testing & Information Quality Assurance
  • Provide direction for the planning, designing, and execution of user testing efforts.
  • Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) and validate product accuracy and performance.
  • Optimize solutions and frameworks for efficiency.
  • Document and resolve issues using tools like Project Management and CRM tools.
Project Management & Research
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Conduct research on emerging BI technologies and healthcare analytics trends.
  • Support sales efforts through product demonstrations and webinars.
Training & Support
  • Deliver technical training to clients and internal teams on BI Solutions.
  • Provide ad hoc support for reporting issues and data discrepancies.
  • Mentor junior analysts and support cross-functional knowledge sharing
Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure adherence to healthcare data standards and internal policies.
  • Contribute to the development of BI best practices and documentation.

 

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent work experience or certifications in Data Science, Health Information Exchange, or Statistics will also be considered.
  • Preferred background in healthcare or 1 – 2 years of experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and working with relational databases (MSSQL, MySQL).
  • Proficiency with Business Intelligence tools such as IBM Cognos, Power BI, Tableau etc.
  • 1 – 2 years of experience designing and maintaining data warehouse architectures for scalable analytics solutions.
  • Familiarity with API integration for data ingestion and real-time reporting.
  • Practical knowledge of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) concepts, including 1 – 2 years of experience building or supporting predictive models.
  • Ability to apply ML algorithms to identify trends, anomalies, and patterns in healthcare data.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and clients.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities, especially in guiding junior analysts or cross-functional teams.
