General Purpose
This position provides analytical support for clean energy planning activities in Oregon and Washington, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations related to customer/community benefit indicators (CBIs), long-term resource planning and clean energy targets, incremental cost calculations, and internal/external stakeholder engagement and education. The role is responsible for gathering data from a variety of sources and designing custom tools to optimize data mining, cleaning, validating and analyzing data.
Responsibilities
- Perform analysis supporting the assessment of progress towards clean energy targets or decarbonization goals based on modeling outputs and assumptions.
- Create data mining models to identify and mine data from reliable internal and external sources.
- Develop and code software programs and algorithms to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources.
- Perform analysis as needed supporting the development and tracking of Customer/Community Benefit Indicators (CBIs) across the company.
- Perform analysis on cost impacts of resource decisions to meet clean energy targets in long-term resource plans.
- Design tools and testing models to ensure data accuracy.
- Gather data, complete analysis and accurately populate data templates used for external reporting.
- Perform statistical reporting and create data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets.
- Research and apply emerging data analytics techniques to develop tools and analysis for informed business decisions in Clean Energy Planning.
- Glean insights from the data to inform and improve Oregon Clean Energy Plans (CEP), Washington Clean Energy Implementation Plans (CEIP).
- Prepare and develop tables, figures and charts supporting analysis.
- Respond to discovery requests from state commissions and stakeholders.
- Develop presentations and periodic reports.
- Contribute to the writing and development of the Oregon Clean Energy Plans (CEP), Washington Clean Energy Implementation Plans (CEIP) and all related filings
- Complete writing assignments that document and describe all analytics and data methodologies used in support of clean energy planning activities and implementation
- Support data literacy and scripting knowledge development across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Math, Statistics, Physics or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of statistical and data processing software, such as R, python, SAS or STATA
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory rules, policies, procedures and practices.
- Proven ability to connect the dots from the data to the business solution.
- Strong analysis, assessment and planning skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with internal and external stakeholders regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature.
- Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team and ability to present alternatives and recommendations.
- Proficient with personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation applications to gather, analyze, and model information.
Preferences
- Experience performing analytical work.
- Advanced proficiency with statistical and data processing software, such as R, python, SAS, or Stata, as well as data visualization tools such as Looker or Tableau.
- Demonstrated experience organizing and writing large technical documents and project plans.
- Experience working in a regulated environment.
- Prior experience with optimization models, production cost analytics, greenhouse gas reporting, renewable energy credits (RECs) or energy equity frameworks.
- Knowledge of PacifiCorp’s resources, transmission system, stakeholders and/or regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of Oregon and Washington’s legislative and policy environment as it pertains to electricity and clean energy policy.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 12.00% of salary.
