JOB PURPOSE:
Provide strategic vision, leadership and management for the operational areas within information technology that support data management and reporting for the institution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and optimize the day-to-day operational and personnel functions of the unit.
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Enterprise IT Database and Business Intelligence teams, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
- Oversee staffing assignments across multiple projects with varying deadlines and priorities, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
- Develop and implement innovative methodologies to enhance team processes and project outcomes.
- Act as a mentor, supporting professional development and encouraging continuous learning within the team.
- Partner with key campus stakeholders and internal personnel to execute data and reporting initiatives while strengthening data security and governance efforts.
- Lead the deployment and upkeep of IT technology solutions related to data management, fostering collaboration with customers, vendors and technical teams.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Business Intelligence applications and Data Warehousing, providing strategic oversight and expertise for data-related initiatives at the University of Wyoming.
- Address challenges by proactively identifying solutions, managing deadlines and collaborating with supervisors and project stakeholders to drive successful outcomes.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as UW representative on the SLEDS (State Longitudinal Education Data System) Security Sub-Committee.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, Computer Science or related field
Experience: 5 years work-related experience, including at least 1 year supervisory experience
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or related field
- Advanced certifications in database management, business intelligence, or data governance
- Experience in higher education technology environments preferred
- Demonstrated success in implementing and overseeing data warehouse and business intelligence solutions
- Expert knowledge of database systems, data warehousing architectures, and ETL processes
- Understanding of data governance frameworks and information security best practices
- Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
