Principal Data Modeler – Data Center of Excellence

The Role

Fidelity Brokerage Technology is seeking a highly motivated Principal Data Modeler to join our Data Design Center of Excellence.  You will provide data analysis and conceptual, logical and physical data model designs to support the various Agile projects with diverse scope in a fast-paced, multi-platform, highly integrated data environment.   You will work closely with business and technical teams to drive the creation of scalable and documented data design solutions. You drive the adoption of enterprise standard modeling best practices. You partner with squads to deliver practical and resilient data model designs that meet business needs and are capable of easily adapting to future business requirements. In this role, you will:

  • Participate in helping to drive a Data Driven Culture.

  • Design and delivery of robust data models for large transactional applications.

  • Collaboration with team members, DBAs, architects, squad leaders, developers to create scalable data models.

  • Ensure that database designs and modeling standards are in alignment with Enterprise modeling best practices

  • Use creativity in helping to solve interesting and challenging design problems

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 10+ year’s of experience and a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) with a focus on data analysis, data structures and data modeling

  • Understanding of different database platforms (e.g. Oracle, PostgresSQL CockRoachDB, NoSQL, Snowflake) with a focus on modeling for OLTP recordkeeping applications

  • Practical knowledge of data lineage from OLTP Recordkeeping to ODS to Data Lakes.

  • Understanding of modeling strategies (Relational, Dimensional, Unstructured).

  • Demonstrable experience with data modelling tools (e.g. SAP Power Designer, Erwin).

  • Experience in executing projects in an Agile environment.

  • Actively participate in requirements and analysis sessions with business and technical staff to analyze data requirements and recommend appropriate solutions

  • Delivery of physical data base design from logical models to physical models, including DDL scripts

  • Outstanding interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills and can collaborate and influence across all levels of the organization

  • Capable and adept at juggling multiple requests and projects at a time while meeting the various deadlines

The Team

The Data Design Center of Excellence works as a cohesive team delivering high quality, resilient designs to meet the data needs of the various Agile squads within our Fidelity Brokerage organization.  Our CoE provides data modeling expertise, data analysis and transformation logic for reporting platforms, support for data scientists and analytics platforms, and maintains a robust inventory of design frameworks and standards.  You will collaborate with the Agile squads, our team members, architects, DBAs, Squad Leaders and squad members to facilitate the design and maintenance of highly normalized data models. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you sustain and evolve our innovative agile culture.

The base salary range for this position is $85,000-$179,000 per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
