Role overview   

Working within the Credit Risk, Pricing & Data team, you will play a pivotal role in driving data excellence across the lending business to support critical business operations and strategic decision-making.

This is a proactive, hands-on role where you will work closely with stakeholders across the business to identify data challenges, shape requirements, and deliver forward-thinking solutions.

By translating complex business needs into scalable, actionable insights, you’ll deliver impactful reporting, dashboards, and analysis that drive tangible value and continuous performance improvement.

This role offers an opportunity to help shape the data strategy within the lending business, as well as promote best data practices across the organisation.

Job details:

• While the responsibilities of the role will be dynamic and develop as you grow your career, we have managed to narrow it down to 5 subcategories: Own and Lead Data Infrastructure: Architect and lead the implementation of scalable, enterprise-grade ETL and data pipeline solutions across the lending business. Drive reusability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Strategically Optimise Data Architecture: Take end-to-end ownership of the data warehouse and related infrastructure. Proactively evaluate and implement enhancements in architecture, tooling, and design to support business growth and evolving analytical needs.
• Embed Data Governance and Trust: Define and embed comprehensive data governance strategies, including advanced quality controls, auditability, retention, and regulatory alignment. Lead initiatives that improve trust in data across the organisation.
• Drive Business-Critical Insight: Deliver complex analytics and forecasting that uncover drivers of performance, inform commercial strategies, and quantify business opportunities or risks. Move beyond reporting into strategic storytelling.
• Be a Data Leader and Trusted Expert: Act as the data SME for the business—guiding stakeholders across the business to shape a culture that's truly data driven. Proactively identify business challenges and lead with innovative, data-backed solutions.

Essential Skills / Experience:

• Strategic and Proactive: You thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments, anticipating changes in business needs — able to pivot quickly, manage shifting priorities, and remain focused on delivering maximum impact across teams
• Creative and Commercial Data Strategist: You bring a solution-driven mindset, consistently identifying innovative ways data can solve complex business challenges and reveal strategic opportunities.
• SQL Expert with Broader Toolkit: You’re highly skilled in SQL and confident using additional tools (e.g. Python, R, XSLT, JavaScript) to develop scalable, production-grade data solutions and automate processes.
• Cloud-Native and Architecture-Savvy: You bring deep experience working with cloud platforms (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake, Azure) and designing performant, cost-efficient data pipelines and data models.
• Influential Stakeholder Partner: You engage confidently with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, using data to challenge assumptions, guide priorities, and shape business decisions.
• Expert in Insight & Storytelling: You lead the development of executive-level reporting, forecasting models, and strategic dashboards—distilling complexity into persuasive narratives and actionable insight.
• We are also looking for someone who has direct experience working within consumer / unsecured lending.
