Chief Architect Data & Analytics

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Data & Analytics and Information Architect to lead the strategic design and implementation of our global bank’s data and information architecture. This role is critical in shaping the future of our data ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration across business units, and leveraging advanced analytics, AI, and cloud technologies to drive innovation and efficiency. As a key leader, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders, technology teams, and data scientists to define and implement best-in-class data solutions that align with our business objectives and regulatory requirements.
The team
As Chief Data & Analytics and Information Architect, you will have 11 direct reports. You report hierarchically to the CIO Data & Analytics and have a functional reporting line to the Global Head of Tech Strategy & Enterprise Architecture. Together with all Chief Architects globally, you are also part of the Management Team Enterprise Architects.
Key Responsibilities
The Chief Architect Data & Analytics is responsible for:
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the enterprise-wide data and information architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory frameworks.
- Architecture Design: Develop scalable, secure, and high-performance data and information architectures, incorporating cloud platforms, big data technologies, and AI/ML capabilities.
- Information Management: Design and maintain an information architecture that supports optimal data flow, storage, and integration across various systems and applications.
- Data Governance: Develop and oversee data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and security across the organization.
- Technology Roadmap: Evaluate emerging data and information technologies, tools, and platforms, driving innovation and continuous improvement in analytics and information management capabilities.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Partner with business leaders, technology teams, data scientists and vendors to translate business needs into architectural solutions that are scalable, sustainable and adaptable to changing business demands.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Optimization: Lead the migration and modernization of data and information platforms on cloud and hybrid environments.
- AI & Advanced Analytics: Enable data-driven decision-making by designing architectures that support AI/ML models, real-time analytics, and predictive insights.
- Security & Risk Management: Ensure data and information security, risk mitigation, and resilience across all platforms and pipelines. Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to global banking regulations and data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, BCBS 239).
- Talent Development: Mentor and guide engineering and architecture teams, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Enterprise Architecture Alignment: Collaborate with enterprise architects, data engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the alignment of information architecture with enterprise architecture and business objectives.
- Innovation & Research: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to guide the continuous improvement of the enterprise data and information architecture.
How to succeed
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, information architecture, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a global financial institution.
- Experience in leading large-scale data transformations and cloud migrations.
Technical Expertise:
- Data & Information Architecture: Expertise in designing scalable data and information architectures, including data lakes, warehouses, and real-time analytics platforms.
- Cloud Platforms: Proficiency with (preferably) Google Cloud, Azure, and AWS for data and information solutions.
- Big Data & Analytics: Experience with technologies such as Iceberg, Spark, Snowflake, Databricks, and Kafka.
- Deep understanding of agentic AI systems including autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, and AI-driven orchestration frameworks.
- Database Management: Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- ETL & Data Integration: Knowledge of tools like Apache NiFi, Informatica, or Fivetran.
- AI & Machine Learning: Deep understanding of Gen AI & Machine Learning, both in terms of technology and impact - Understanding of ML models, AI-driven analytics, and MLOps frameworks.
- Enterprise Architecture Frameworks: Extensive knowledge of frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman), tools (Archimate) and methodologies.
- Data Governance Tools: Familiarity with tools and technologies (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Talend).

- Leadership: Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. Experience in leading cross-functional teams and mentoring technical talent.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
- Strategic Vision: Strong understanding of how data and information architecture supports business strategy and capable of developing long-term, scalable solutions that align with evolving technology trends and business demands.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Effective at working with diverse teams, including business units, external vendors, and senior leadership, and skilled in facilitating productive discussions and managing conflicting priorities.
- Communication & Presentation: Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and strong writing and presentation skills for executive and board-level reports.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex systems and data environments to derive strategic insights and architecture solutions, and skilled in translating business needs into technical specifications.
- Risk Management: Expertise in identifying potential risks related to information security, data privacy, and system integration, with a proactive approach to mitigating those risks.
- Change Management: Experience in managing organizational change, especially in the context of digital transformation and new technology implementations, and the ability to guide teams through the transition while maintaining productivity.
- Innovation & Creativity: Ability to innovate within the enterprise architecture landscape, finding creative solutions to meet complex business and technical challenges, and willingness to explore new technologies and methods to enhance data architectures.
