Data Science Trainee

Air Liquide Europe Business Services (ALEBS) was created in 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal with the mandate to provide financial services for Air Liquide European entities. In the space of 4 years, it has expanded to over 400 employees based in 3 office locations: Lisbon, Tomar and Guarda. The geographical scope was extended to include, besides the European affiliates also entities located in Africa, Middle-East and India, and the operational scope was extended and includes today not just Finance, but also Human Resources.

We are looking for a motivated and analytical Trainee Data Scientist to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience, learn from experienced colleagues and contribute to impactful projects.

 

As a Data Science Trainee, you will be an integral part of our Business Process Improvement team, supporting various initiatives and learning the ropes of the profession. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Data Collection and Preparation: Assisting in the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of large datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality and integrity.

• Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): Performing initial data exploration and visualization to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies, and communicating findings to the team.

• Model Development Support: Collaborating with senior colleagues on the development and implementation of machine learning models, including feature engineering, model training, and evaluation.

• Reporting and Documentation: Generating reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate data insights and model performance to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Research and Learning: Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, and continuously improving your skills.

• Ad-hoc Analysis: Conducting ad-hoc data analysis to answer specific business questions and provide data-driven recommendations.

• Tooling and Infrastructure: Assisting in the maintenance and optimization of data science tools and infrastructure.

 

Are you a MATCH?

 

• Fresh Graduate in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related discipline;

• Solid understanding of statistical concepts and their application;

• Knowledge of Google Tools (GSheet, GForm, GSlide, GDoc,...);

• Familiarity with BI Tools (Power BI);

• Ability to manipulate and extract data via SQL, Excel, Python;

• Understanding of data analysis techniques;

• Knowledge of relational databases and visualization tools;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail;

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly;

• A genuine passion for data and a strong desire to learn and grow within the data science field;

• Proficient in English.
