Position Summary:

Three Casual Research Assistant 2 positions are open at the Montreal Brain Imaging Centre of the Neurological Institute.

The candidates will develop pipelines for classification of patients and healthy control subjects based on diffusion MRI images and functional MRI responses.

Duties include:

  • Developing machine-learning and/or deep learning pipelines for classifying patients of optic neuropathies and healthy control subjects based on diffusion MRI and structural MRI images;
  • Writing reports and/or manuscripts with details of the methods and results.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or Engineering programs. Ph.D would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of classification algorithms, vision-language models (VLM) and Hugging Face Transformers is an asset.
  • Candidates should have excellent programming, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ideally, candidates should have previous knowledge of image processing, statistics, and machine learning/AI, and proficiency in: Linux. git, remote computing, containerization technology.
  • Ideally, candidates should have experience with Python, and knowledge in modern Data Science methods.
  • Knowledge of neuroimaging analysis software and methods and willingness to learn new data analysis techniques and brain imaging methods are assets.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
