Role Overview:

We are seeking an exceptional and highly experienced Principal Data Scientist to join our Data Science team. As a Principal Data Scientist you will help shape our data science strategy and drive the development of scalable machine learning solutions that power our cybersecurity ratings engine. As a technical thought leader, you will mentor a growing team and collaborate across engineering, product and security teams. 

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute on the data science roadmap to advance SecurityScorecard’s core analytics and ML capabilities.
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex cybersecurity challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and research teams to translate business requirements into robust and scalable data science solutions.
  • Mentor and guide other data scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Conduct rigorous research and experimentation to identify new opportunities and approaches for improving our products and services.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and cybersecurity.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data science, with a proven track record of leading significant data science projects from conception to deployment.
  • Deep expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and experimental design.
  • Proficiency with Python and experience with relevant data science/machine learning/statistical computing frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn,  PyTorch, Numpy).
  • Strong experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the cybersecurity domain is a significant plus.
  • Experience with LLMs is a plus.

The estimated total compensation range for this position is $237,000 - $266,000 (base plus bonus). Actual compensation for the position is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to affordability, skills, qualifications and experience, and may vary from the range. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible for annual performance-based incentive compensation awards and equity, among other company benefits.
