Overview:


We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in data architecture, data engineering, data analysis, reporting, and a basic understanding of data science techniques and workflows. They are an Agile learner, possess strong problem-solving skills, work as part of a technical, cross functional analytics team, and want to solve complex data problems and deliver the insights to enable analytics strategy. At Bunge, you will be at the forefront of leveraging data analytics and technology to feed and fuel the world in a better, faster, and simpler way. Data Engineer will work closely with a multidisciplinary Agile team to build high quality data pipelines driving analytic solutions. These solutions will generate insights from the organization's connected data, enabling the organization to advance the data-driven decision-making capabilities of the organization's enterprise.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Solve complex data problems to deliver insights that helps the organization's business to achieve their goals​
  • Create data products for analytics and data scientist team members to improve their productivity​
  • Mentor and coach other data and analytic professionals on data standards and practices​
  • Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions​
  • Lead the evaluation, implementation and deployment of emerging tools and process for analytic data engineering in order to improve the organization's productivity as a team​
  • Develop and deliver communication and education plans on analytic data engineering capabilities, standards, and processes​.
  • Partner with business analysts and solutions architects to develop technical architectures for strategic enterprise projects and initiatives.​
  • Learn about machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics
  • Ensure timely analysis and testing for regular maintenance of solutions over time
  • Applies acquired expertise to analyze and solve problems without clear precedent.  Identifies applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to solve complex problems; Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements.  Takes a new perspective on existing solutions.  
  • Manages operational plans, large projects and/or processes with limited oversight from manager. Leads and/or participates with comparable influence in large projects/initiatives; AND/OR provides leadership to professionals and support.  Contributes to short to mid term (1-3 years) talent optimization plans to execute strategies in job area.
  • Leads technical discussion across other data Engineer to ensure best practices, approaches and implementation.

 

Knowledge and Technical 

 

  • Conceptual understanding of data mesh
  • Proficient in SQL and data analysis and experience with at least one programming language (Python or Scala preferred)​
  • Can help business structure the data solution.
  • Develop business awareness of possible use cases

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • PhD in STEM field with research experience in Data Science or experience Post graduate degree in STEM field  with 3-5 years experience as Lead Data Engineer
  • Expertise in SQL and data analysis and experience with at least one programming language (Python or Scala preferred)​
  • Experience developing and maintaining data warehouses in big data solutions ​
  • Experience with developing solutions on cloud computing services and infrastructure in the data and analytics space (preferred)​
  • Database development experience using Hadoop or BigQuery and experience with a variety of relational, NoSQL, and cloud database technologies
  • Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, such as dimensional modeling, ETL, reporting tools, data governance, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data.​
  • Big Data Development experience using Hive, Impala, Spark and familiarity with Kafka (Preferred)​
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system (Preferred)​
  • Exposure to machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics
  • Passionate about Agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and experimentation​
  • Experience working on a collaborative Agile product team ​
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and learning skills​
  • Flexibility to changes in work direction as the project develops​
  • Excellent communication, listening, and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated strong number sense, intellectually curious and willing to adjust position based on additional information ​
  • Strong work ethic; ability to work at an abstract level and gain consensus
