What will you be doing?

As a part of the Professional Services Team, the Data Scientist will participate in the analysis, exploration, and analytics model development efforts for our Private Cloud and Intelligence Suite products, leveraging both structured data (POS sales, inventory, loyalty promotion, and other data) and unstructured data (product descriptions, etc.). The Data Scientist will also be key in design, validation, implementation, and maintenance of PAMLAI (Predictive Analytics, Machine Learning & AI) models and algorithms. There will be a need to creatively analyze and explore different clients’ big data for establishing model performance measured based on both quality of analytics results and efficiency (execution time, memory/compute usage, parallelization). The individual will interface with other functional teams mainly engineering, QA, product management, and product operations worldwide.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analysis of big data across a variety of industries, but primarily in CPG and Retail
  • Model performance evaluations in terms of both Analytics (Accuracy, Recall, Precision, RMSE, MAE, RMSLE, …) and Efficiency (Exec. Time, memory usage, parallelism)
  • Design, development, and testing of new analytics features/capabilities of the products
  • Collaborate with other team members in maintenance of existing Analytics code
  • Interface/Liaison to Engineering/Architecture team
  • Assisting with cost estimation for Data Science implementations

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering or Science with courses completed on probability, statistics, machine learning, programming, Big Data, data analysis, and/or related subjects. Bachelor’s degree is also fine with two years of hands-on experience in big data analytics and coding in R and/or Python.
  • Three years of real-world industry experience in analytics, especially big data analytics leveraging Statistical Modeling, Machine Learning and Predictive Analysis.
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Strong experience with R or Python programming. Other software experience (in Java or C++ or Scala, …) is a plus.
  • Highly passionate about data.
  • Problem solving mindset.
  • Good verbal and written communication (including documentation) skills.
  • Knowledge and experience on Big Data infrastructures (MPP databases and Distributed Data platforms) and any Cloud platform is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in retail and/or consumer packaged goods is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and data mining techniques.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, matplotlib, seaborn, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure/GCP) and version control systems (Git).
  • Preferred qualifications include:
    • Experience with big data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark)
    • Experience with MLOps practices and tools.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $130,000.  

 This role is also eligible for bonus pay.
