About the role:
The Principal Data Engineer will play a pivotal role in the technical leadership of data engineering projects, actively collaborating with data teams to identify and implement improvement opportunities. You'll be responsible for establishing architecture and quality standards, programming and monitoring pipeline routines, and validating code, dedicating at least 50% of your time to code reviews and technical evaluations. Beyond coding, your role will include mentoring developers on technical decisions, striving to optimize the team's "ways of working," and constantly identifying opportunities for improvement in the data environment and architecture. You'll work on designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and robust architectures, ensuring business demands are translated into efficient technical solutions. You'll also optimize existing pipelines, drive data collection strategies, and foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, in addition to contributing to data warehouse and data lake architecture.

What you'll do:

  • Lead technical aspects of data engineering projects, actively collaborating with data teams to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Establish architecture and quality standards.
  • Program and monitor pipeline routines.
  • Validate code, dedicating at least 50% of your time to code reviews and technical evaluations.
  • Mentor developers on technical decisions, optimizing team's ways of working.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the data environment and architecture.
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines and robust architectures, ensuring business demands are translated into efficient technical solutions.
  • Optimize existing pipelines and drive data collection strategies.
  • Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to data warehouse and data lake architecture.

What you'll need:

  • University degree in computing-related fields (e.g., Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Analysis and Development).
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with strong technical leadership.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency (hard skills).
  • Strong command of Python and Spark.
  • Experience with Big Data environments.
  • Proficiency in Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks.
  • Solid understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Familiarity with data pipeline and workflow management tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Databricks Workflow).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Proactive and self-directed approach.
  • Passion for building and optimizing data systems.
