Overview

The Data Architect is critical to designing and managing an organization’s data architecture. This role will bridge the gap between the data enterprise strategy and operational data architecture. This role will be responsible for developing data architecture strategies and providing governance for data topics including collection, storage, organization, integration, transformations, quality, governance, and security. This candidate will be part of the Electric Boat Corporation Enterprise Technical Architecture team and be included in broader IT application architecture governance

 

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing the Electric Boat data architecture
  • Work with business stakeholders, data analysts, and data engineers to understand the data requirements and objectives of the organization
  • Design data models, schemas and policies to meet business needs
  • Oversee the development, testing, and deployment of the data architecture
  • Ensure the reliability and security of the data architecture
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals, such as software developers, infrastructure engineers, BI data modelers

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis and modeling in a business intelligence or reporting environment
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise data quality, master data management, and/or data governance activities

Preferred:

  • Proficiency working within a highly regulated industry such as Federal, State, Finance, Healthcare or Life Sciences
  • Proficient in SQL or similar query language for use in business analysis and testing efforts
  • Experienced in various architectures, patterns and protocols such as Microsoft SSID, SSIS, Oracle analytic services, unified data management architecture (UDM), event-driven architecture, real-time data flows, non-relational repositories, data virtualization, cloud enablement, etc
  • Experienced with Microsoft Power BI

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Possess blend of technical and analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving and knowledge of data security practices
  • Strong understanding of data modeling techniques
  • Strong understanding of database management systems
  • Strong understanding of data integration tools like ETL (extract, transform, load)
