What We Do

The Mapbox Accelerated Recruiting Squad (MARS) is a specialized recruiting team within the larger global Talent Organization. Our mission is to hire bar-raising talent for Mapbox enabling our business teams to deliver for their customers efficiently at scale. As a small, agile team we remain curious and flexible utilizing a mix of business-aligned and centralized hiring models which allow us to adapt quickly to the needs of the business. Mapbox is in hyper-growth mode and we are looking for a motivated and innovative Staff Technical Recruiter to drive our ambitious growth plans.

What You'll Do

As a Staff Technical Recruiter on the MARS team, you will:

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for both individual contributor and leadership roles, mid to staff level, with an emphasis in product and engineering (AI, ML, Backend, and Data).

  • Partner with Mapbox leadership to identify, scope out, and develop hiring strategies for highly technical, critical roles across the organization.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing plans, managing pipeline activity and proactively share data-centric hiring updates with business stakeholders.

  • Identify, facilitate, and lead key initiatives and projects with cross-functional teams that will continuously improve and scale our hiring processes and operations.

  • Coordinate closely with recruiting team members to innovate our research strategy for talent pooling, market mapping, and competitor analysis.

  • Drive the offer process - including creating and extending offers, negotiations, closing candidates, and initiating new hire onboarding.

  • Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with key cross-functional internal stakeholders (e.g. Mapbox Leadership, Talent Ops, HRBPs, Compensation, and L&D).

  • Provide mentorship and support to the recruiting team in ways that promote high quality standards, upward growth, and strong performance.

  • Research and stay up to date with cutting edge technology, specifically AI, ML, and LLMs.

  • Be the face of Mapbox by maintaining professional and responsive communication with candidates to foster long-term relationships and build equity in our employer brand.

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role

  • 8+ years of recruiting experience in high-growth, ambiguous environments with at least 3+ years in a full-cycle role hiring Engineering Leaders, Product Managers, and/or Machine Learning Engineers.

  • Proven ability and determination to source, engage, and close top-tier technical talent in competitive markets, oftentimes for critical roles.

  • Demonstrated history of successfully influencing senior stakeholders and serving as a trusted advisor to leadership.

  • A love for data. Comfortable analyzing data to evaluate pipeline health, inform decisions, influence the business, and drive continuous improvement within recruiting operations.

  • Curiosity and desire to learn new technology, such as AI, and how to incorporate it with our day to day recruiting and hiring processes.

  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing recruiters and sourcers, providing guidance on sourcing strategies, stakeholder management, and candidate experience best practices.

  • Endless motivation and resilience in building and managing talent pipelines across multiple functions and seniority levels where change is constant.

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence and composure.

Nice to have Traits for This Role

  • Experience hiring in Europe, preferably the UK, Germany, Poland, and/or Finland.

  • Strong interest in learning about AI and how to apply its capabilities to recruiting.

  • Experience with Google Suite and various Applicant Tracking Systems, preferably Ashby.

Our annual base compensation for this role ranges from $165,750 - $224,250 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location.
