As a Principal Software Engineer on the Create team, you will work in an exciting and fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with teams across the company. You will have the opportunity to develop cutting-edge visual creation models and build top tier visual creation experience in M365 Copilot. This role is crucial for driving innovation and creating modern, inclusive, and intelligent design experiences used by millions worldwide.

Responsibilities
- We want to hire full stack curious model forward engineers ready to take on any challenges presented and learn new technologies fast. Proficiency working with LLMs, high Scale Services backend with focus on Engineering for ML systems, Modern Web UX/Frontend.
- You will get the opportunity of working in a fast-paced environment developing algorithms and techniques leveraging text, and images for analyzing and transforming content to build solutions that have the potential to transform people’s lives.
- You will work with product, ML, design partner teams on the model integration/flight/maintenance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience
- OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field experience and 6+ years of experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in architecting complex microservice architectures, AI inference pipelines and optimization
- 5+ years of technical experience in coding and design, specifically in the development of AI models for scaled production services.
- 5+ years experience working with rich telemetry and data driven decisions, rapid experimentation
- 5+ experience delivering software solutions at scale, performance, efficiency, and reliability
- Experience working cross discipline on every detail of design and implementation of the product. From fast evolving new features to long-range infrastructure and architecture investments.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

- Academic or Industry experience with building, finetuning or building systems with models (any category).

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
