- Salary relative to experience, Clerk Grade 7/8 (from $110,266 - $122,058 plus super)
The Energy Data and Analytics branch, part of the Strategy & Implementation Division, is actively recruiting an Energy Market Analyst in the Modelling and Analytics Team.
This analyst role is responsible for developing data analytics, quality assurance and reporting solutions to support and inform evidence-based policy and associated procedure development.
The Energy Market Analyst within the Modelling and Analytics Team will primarily focus on the ongoing development and associated modelling and analysis of electricity and gas markets in Australia.
About You
To be successful in these roles you will be possess;
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications or relevant experience in electrical or renewable energy engineering, computer science, finance, economics, statistics, or another relevant discipline.
- an understanding of local or international energy markets
- experience with data analytics tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL
- experience with data management and visualisation software (e.g. MS Excel, PowerPivot, PowerBI, ArcGIS)
- experience with energy market modelling software (e.g. PLEXOS, PROPHET etc.) is not a requirement however would be highly desirable
- the ability to learn and apply new analysis and modelling techniques as required.
It is highly desired if you have experience with performing both technical and economic analysis, including using a range of relevant platforms and techniques; Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new analysis and modelling techniques as required: and Knowledge of the energy sector.
