Room to Read is seeking a tech-savvy, systems-oriented professional to lead the charge in optimizing our global fundraising data infrastructure. As our Salesforce Global Data Management Associate, you’ll play a critical role in strengthening the tools and systems that fuel our worldwide fundraising efforts — from Salesforce (NPSP) to Double the Donation and beyond.
In this role, you’ll drive strategic data initiatives, improve reporting, and ensure the accuracy of our donor information — helping teams across multiple countries make smarter, faster decisions. You’ll collaborate with Development Communications, IT, and Finance, building systems and dashboards that turn data into insight and insight into action.
This is the perfect opportunity for someone with a background in a large international organization who loves solving problems, streamlining processes, and making data easier to access and use — all in service of a global mission.
This role requires a candidate who is:
A curious and proactive problem solver
A clear communicator who can translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
Detail-oriented with a high bar for data integrity
Process-driven but flexible
Calm under pressure, especially when juggling competing deadlines or troubleshooting issues
In Your First 3 to 6 Months You’ll:
Clean Up Data: Review Salesforce and related tools for errors and inconsistencies in donation records. Create data-cleaning processes.
Improve Reporting: Review current fundraising dashboards and reports, identify gaps, and start making them more useful.
Deliver Training: Run training sessions on how to enter data, use dashboards, and follow standards.
Build Relationships: Meet with teams in Development, Communications, IT, and Finance to understand needs and build trust.
What You’ll Do:
Dashboards, Reporting, Analysis, and Data Integrity: (60%)
Maintain database records in all development systems; track revenue streams from multiple countries.
Create, maintain, and improve dashboards to provide accurate and accessible information.
Ensure data integrity in third-party donation processing, working closely with the team to ensure data importing and soft credit consistency, and by identifying issues and training team on recognizing them.
Create and manage reports in Salesforce, including matrix and joined reports, with filter logic, cross object filters, bucket fields, and formula fields, list views, email templates, etc.
Assist with decision making by analyzing data and providing guidance on metrics for tracking overall giving trends.
Develop, run and prepare reports (financial, historical analysis, data, benchmarks, etc.) for various presentations and meetings.
Support fundraising teams by maintaining data and setting up processes to access constituent records.
Manage temporary staff and volunteers as needed.
Setting Up, Training, and Supporting Users: (25%)
Manage user profiles in both Salesforce and Engaging Networks, including setting up and deactivating accounts.
Manage permissions sets, app permissions, and troubleshoot and solve any permissions issues as needed. Ensure users have the dashboards and reports they need to get up and running.
Train staff on documenting new processes; update training manuals and work with full DevComm team on roll out.
Ensure training programs are updated, relevant, and easy to access and use.
Set up, maintain and organize resources for all training libraries for admins and users of our CRM, Engaging Networks, and other tools.
Maintain and respond to support requests in CRM and resolve user problems.
Project Management & Process Improvements: (15%)
Identify areas of operational improvement and implement scalable and efficient solutions.
Lead Salesforce projects including setting up new processes, feature requests, integrations and enhancements of systems and tools, while managing cross functional teams to ensure project quality and timeliness.
