The Position
Roche Sequencing is developing ground-breaking next-generation sequencing products that allow scientists/clinicians powerful new avenues to investigate DNA, the blueprint of any lifeforms, in days giving them the ability to understand health conditions such as cancer, HIV, COVID19 and more! We are not only changing science but changing lives through the development of frontier technologies that accelerate personalized healthcare.

We are looking for an intern to develop innovative deep learning algorithms for primary analysis on a DNA sequencing instrument. You will also perform deep dives into data and generate insights to help guide experimental teams in hitting both near-term research targets and long-term objectives.
The Opportunity:
Become acquainted with the data from the Roche sequencing platform.
Research, design and implement relevant deep learning solutions tailored to sequencing data.
Train large-scale models using cloud and HPC infrastructure.
Deliver high-quality code and actively participate in testing and validation.
Keep accurate and timely records of research findings and progress.
Present work to the team at the end of the internship.
Who You Are:
Currently pursuing a master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related scientific field.
Strong knowledge of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals; highly skilled in Python.
Hands-on experience building and training neural networks; experienced with at least one deep learning framework (preferably PyTorch).
Excellent problem-solving abilities; able to articulate complex and ambiguous problem statements.
Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance; familiarity with time series data and cloud/HPC infrastructure is helpful.
Additional Information:
Duration: 4 months, with an approximate start date in September 2025.
Modality: Full Time (35 hours per week) Hybrid (majority of days on - site is required)
Location: Mississauga Campus.
This position is not eligible for relocation support.
