Applied Scientist - Energy and Pricing
Paris, France
🏠 What Do We Do?
Born in 2021 from the desire to make cities less polluted and quieter, Electra is helping to shift usage towards electric mobility by tackling the main barrier: charging.
Electra is constantly innovating to make electric vehicle charging easier, with a network of fast charging stations (20 minutes on average) and a maximally simplified user experience.
Based in Paris, Lyon, Bordeau, Nantes, Brussels, Madrid, Zurich, Vienna, Munich, Milan and Amsterdam, Electra's teams aim to deploy a network of 15,000 fast charging points by 2030, proud to contribute to the energy transition in Europe.
In 4 years, we have:
Deployed 480 stations and over 2000 fast-charging points
Secured thousands of stations to establish Electra as a leader in the European market
Opened several offices in France and Europe
Raised over €750 million in equity and debt financing from renowned investors and institutions
Joined the French Tech Next 40 and won the European Scale-up of the Year 2024 award
Assembled a team of over 240 talents… and this is just the beginning!
💼 Your Missions
Part of the Energy Science & Public Affairs team, you will develop computational tools to accelerate our ongoing efforts, especially batteries and smart pricing.
Batteries
Batteries are fast becoming a cornerstone of Electra’s deployment strategy. In a nutshell, they allow us to 1) deploy stations in grid constrained areas, and 2) actively reshape our load to reduce electricity bills and generate revenue from electricity markets. Ongoing efforts in the team you will contribute to include:
Creating a simulation framework to assess the performance of different control algorithms for managing battery operations and support sizing decisions.
Developing, implementing and testing production-grade control algorithms on batteries we have already deployed.
Smart Pricing
Setting the right pricing strategy is key to finding the right balance between competitiveness and profitability. You will:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across disciplines such as marketing, product, engineering, and operations to drive the development of our smart pricing system end-to-end from ideation to execution.
Build our price simulation and optimization engine that generates fresh customer-relevant prices on all our stations from data such as the cost of energy, local constraints, demand, and competitive intelligence.
Design, run, analyze science-based experiments to estimate elasticities and draw detailed and actionable conclusions.
😎 Your Profile
An Applied Scientist with strong quantitative skills, foundations in advanced computational methods (optimization, statistics, data science) and strong programming skills (Python preferred but not required).
You are a strong team player and ready to collaborate with various teams in different countries. You also know how to work independently. You are eager to join a fast-growing scale up and the expanding Energy Team.
An engineering / scientific background is needed as well as strong business acumen. Previous experience with applied energy systems modeling and/or pricing modeling is a plus.
You are fluent in English. Fluency in German or French is a strong plus.
