  • Full time, fixed term for 12 months

  • Base salary HEO 6 ($99,455 - $107,216) or HEO 7 ($108,557 - $118,267) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Westmead Applied Research Centre is seeking a Research Officer- Biostatistician/Statistical programmer who will provide technical and operational support to the Chief Investigator, Senior Research Academics, and the research team to support the research activity and clinical trial requirements for the work area with support from the statistical programming team and head biostatistician.

This includes contributing to the design and statistical methodology of the clinical trial or observational study, writing statistical analysis plans, writing statistical analysis programs and writing data cleaning programs during the ongoing execution of the trial and conducting statistical analysis at the completion of the study. The Research Officer- Biostatistician/Statistical programmer will ensure that these responsibilities are performed according to the quality standards, budgets and schedules required. The incumbent will be expected to coordinate the activities associated with research projects, and work towards ensuring that trials/etc are prepared for and run smoothly.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • lead and optimise research projects, ensuring methodologies are refined and research goals are met

  • provide advice on research direction, updating the team on the latest research methodologies and statistical programming methods

  • coordinate data management processes, ensuring thorough analysis and reporting that drives research insights

  • strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders, enhancing research collaborations and joint initiatives

  • facilitate timely report submission, uphold data integrity according to university systems, and partner with managers to advance compliance initiatives

  • undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.

About you

  • bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience

  • excellent administrative, problem solving and data analytic skills

  • experience in people management, including managing staff performance and development

  • excellent programming skills such R or SAS

  • strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritize workload during busy periods.
